{"id":107,"date":"2007-10-16T14:04:46","date_gmt":"2007-10-16T08:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/107\/devi-bhava-in-holland\/"},"modified":"2007-10-16T14:04:46","modified_gmt":"2007-10-16T08:34:46","slug":"devi-bhava-in-holland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/2007\/107\/","title":{"rendered":"Devi Bhava in Holland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>16 Oct 2007, Amritapuri<\/p>\n<p>Devi Bhava ended this morning in Amritapuri (or Holland, depending on where you are physically).<br \/>\nWhen the connection was first made around 9:30, Swamiji was chanting the 1000 names.\u00a0\u00a0 Many of the international visitors were in the Canteen eating breakfast at the time.\u00a0 Swamiji\u2019s voice boomed throughout the hall and we responded with \u2018Om Parashaktyai Namah\u2019 between bites.<\/p>\n<p>Having eaten a blissful breakfast, I joined my Brothers on stage.\u00a0 Once again, the distance was blurred and we found ourselves in Holland. Amma was looking as beautiful as ever.\u00a0\u00a0 The garlands that hung around Her neck stood out vividly against her still-unidentified-colored sari.\u00a0 (Last night, when Amma was talking with us in the Mandapam after the Puja, I was told that Amma had said it was \u2018neither blue nor green.\u2019)\u00a0\u00a0 Even at breakfast, everyone was commenting that it was the first time they had seen Amma wear that shade.<br \/>\nThere were a few ceremonies to go before the end.\u00a0 In Europe, Amma performs\u00a0 Baptisms for children (and occasionally a few adults).\u00a0\u00a0 There was one particular infant \u2013 maybe about 10 months old(?), where the ceremony appeared to change into a \u2018first feeding\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0 He took took a certain interest in Amma\u2019s hand and began sucking on it much to Amma\u2019s and everyone\u2019s laughter.\u00a0 This went on it seemed for a few minutes.<br \/>\nAll the while, Swamiji was belting out bhajans.\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018Devi Sharanam\u2019, \u2018Kuch Na Le\u2019, and finally \u2018Amma Amma Taye.\u2019\u00a0 I think the speakers in the Ashram were all connected so everyone could hear.\u00a0 It felt like Swamiji was there with us.<br \/>\nAmong us, there were a few international visitors who had never met Amma before.\u00a0 This was their first time seeing Her.\u00a0 One or two are headed back to Europe and will be lucky to see Her \u2013 this time physically.<br \/>\nAfter a few more ceremonies and one wedding, Amma rose to Her feet.\u00a0 The camera was positioned to Amma\u2019s right \u2013 just over Her shoulder, looking out at the crowd and the arena where the program was being held.\u00a0 It was our first view of the hall &#8211; giving us some perspective.\u00a0 Amma showered flower petals at Her children as they passed by.\u00a0 Then the curtains closed.<br \/>\nBack inside the Mandapam, Amma chatted with us again.\u00a0 A few more jokes and it was over.\u00a0 The camera followed Her through the crowd and out the door to the camper.\u00a0\u00a0 How I wish the camera could go there as well \u2013 and then we could journey with Amma to the next stop. But it&#8217;s only a dream. Amma needs to rest.
