Even though Karnataka is a big state, a small portion of Northern Karnataka intersects the national highway NH9. Amma stopped for lunch in a village in Maharashtra. The vehicle pulled over to a random spot. It was the second time Amma was stopping at the same spot. Can u believe it? Yes, it was the same house. The members of the house could of course remember Amma’s previous visit. While Amma waited for the buses to come, she started reading a bunch of letters and responding to them. It was about 3:45 p.m. when the buses arrived. Amma served lunch to all. Someone handed a yellow fruit to Amma. She cut that small fruit into 400 small pieces and distributed them. We then had a small question-and-answer session with Amma. Meanwhile a member of the entourage started describing the beauty, explaining how each part of her beauty was unique.

By 4:30 p.m. we set off again. The weather was still hot. It was a long drive, By 8:00 p.m. we stopped for tea and dinner in front of a dhaba [roadside restaurant]. All the group members joined Amma. Soon the vicinity became a bhajan hall. Amma sang Marathi bhajans. The villagers and passers-by from trucks also joined in.

It was 3 a.m when we reached the Pune ashram. It houses an Amrita Vidyalayam and a Computer Institute. Most of those accompanying Amma are staying in the school. Amma is in staying in the ashram.

The official language of Maharashtra is Marathi. So Amma will be singing Marati bhajans more in Pune and Mumbai, the next two stops. Amma’s satsang will first be translated into Hindi and once darshan starts, it will be translated into Marathi.

11 March 2007, Pune
Dhyanamrita

We crossed Andhra Pradesh, then Karnataka and entered Maharashtra.
