They are from two endangered breeds of cows that once were a common household milk producing animal in Kerala and other parts of India: The <em>Vechoor Cow (vechur cow)<\/em>and the <em>Kasargod Dwarf<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>They are supposed to be the breeds that Krishna once played with and made so dear to his heart\u2026 They are also the smallest cow breeds in the world as per the Guinness records\u2026 When the larger breeds of cows were introduced to India, these\u00a0 two indigenous breeds became less and less popular, as the new breeds yielded more milk.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3959\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3959\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2011\/03\/blg-41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3959\" src=\"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2011\/03\/blg-41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3959\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shankar the adult bull<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Amma wanted to take this step and help reintroduce these breeds amongst villagers.
