Amma was giving darshan today in the Temple instead of the Main Hall.\u00a0\u00a0 At around 5:30, while meditating on the roof of the \u2018S\u2019 flats, I suddenly heard then \u2018Sneha Sudhamini\u2019 coming over the Ashram speakers.\u00a0\u00a0 It was Swami Amritaswarupananda singing which was quite unusual.\u00a0 Generally, Ashram residents, International visitors, or Brahmacharinis sing until about 6:30, after which Swami Amritatmananda begins singing on the stage in the main hall.\u00a0\u00a0 Something was up\u2026.<\/p>\n
When I made it to the Temple, it was packed with people.\u00a0 Everyone had come to hear Swamiji sing.\u00a0\u00a0 None of us could remember the last time he had sung bhajans in the Temple.\u00a0 Was it three years back?\u00a0 Five? More?\u00a0 For me, it brought back memories of my first visit to Amritapuri in Oct. 1998.\u00a0 There was no stage in the big hall \u2013 darshan and bhajans were always in the Temple.<\/p>\n
The energy was beautiful \u2013 and intense.\u00a0 In the seemingly\/relatively small space of the Temple filled with devotees watching\u00a0 Amma give darshan \u2013 it was like being in a furnace with the heat of devotion crackling in the air.\u00a0 And when Swamiji next sang \u2018Katutha Sokam\u2019 the energy reached still another level.\u00a0 I reminded me of Devi Bhava when it used to be in the Temple, and I was living upstairs on the 5th floor.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019d be resting late at night while Darshan would be going on. Then I\u2019d hear Swamiji\u2019s voice and come running down to see the end of Darshan.<\/p>\n
After about an hour,\u00a0 Swamiji finished singing and Swami Amritatmananda started his usual set on the stage \u2013 a little later than usual.\u00a0 For a brief moment, it was a beautiful flashback to fond memories of my early days with Amma.\u00a0\u00a0 May there be many more.<\/p>\n
