After Amma&#8217;s program in Tokyo, I went to see the local temples. I went to the Sens\u014d-ji temple, which is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. It is Tokyo&#8217;s oldest temple, and one of its most significant. The temple is dedicated to the Bodhisattva Kannon. It was formerly associated with the Tendai sect, it became independent after World War II.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5988\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;margin: 5px 10px\" alt=\"sensojitemple\" src=\"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2014\/05\/sensojitemple.jpg\" width=\"550\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2014\/05\/sensojitemple.jpg 550w, https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2014\/05\/sensojitemple-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While going around the temple, I was pleasantly surprised to see a statue of Mother and her children. The statue reminded me of Amma and Amma\u2019s logo!<\/p>\n<p>The name of this statue is &#8216;Bo-shi Jiz\u00f2&#8217;. Jizo is a very common statue in Japan. &#8216;Bo-shi&#8217; means Mother and child. The writings under the statue and on the red flag next to this statue reads \u201cthis Bo-shi Jizo is has been erected in order to comfort the spirits of mothers and children in the confusion of the end of World War II, who were not able to go back to Japan from China\u201d. This statue represents the prayer of \u201cwe do not repeat the mistake(of war) again\u201d as well as comforting the spirits of mothers and children those who lost their lives in the war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5989\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;margin: 5px 10px\" alt=\"sensoji\" src=\"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2014\/05\/sensoji.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2014\/05\/sensoji.jpg 333w, https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/files\/2014\/05\/sensoji-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Amma does the same thing \u2013 comforting her children all over the world!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Sudhakar<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of years ago, I attended Amma\u2019s Japan programs.
