{"id":606,"date":"2008-01-29T07:52:01","date_gmt":"2008-01-29T02:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/606\/bathroom-break\/"},"modified":"2008-01-29T07:52:01","modified_gmt":"2008-01-29T02:22:01","slug":"bathroom-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/e.amritapuri.org\/blogs\/2008\/606\/","title":{"rendered":"Bathroom Break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the long bus journey from Kumbokanam to Tirunelveli, we stopped for a bathroom break.\u00a0 The bathroom consisted of a large field with some bushes and trees.<\/p>\n<p>What a laughable scene it must have been to see hoards of women in white saris and Punjabis spreading out across this green and golden landscape in search of a hopefully secluded and private spot, and then squatting here, there, everywhere.\u00a0 It was only after we had re-boarded the buses and started to slowly drive away that we noticed the small crowds of local people who had been watching the whole time from their houses that were tucked away in the trees.\u00a0\u00a0 They gathered together, mostly women in beautifully colored saris, and children \u2013 watching us with smiles on their faces as we drove away.<\/p>\n<p>Realizing we had been caught \u2018red-handed\u2019 as the saying goes, laughter rolled through the bus.\u00a0 We waved at the gentle, tolerant people watching us.\u00a0 They smiled and waved back.<\/p>\n<p>Malini \u2013 USA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the long bus journey from Kumbokanam to Tirunelveli, we stopped for a bathroom break.\u00a0 The bathroom consisted of a large field with some bushes and trees.
