now, even during weekdays, the day’s darshan goes well past 10 p.m. while amma is giving darshan, swamis and others will continue singing in turns through out the darshan time.<\/p>\n
today it was different.<\/p>\n
swamiji was singing bhajans below the stage; amma was on the stage and giving darshan. i was on my computer working on the updates. suddenly\u00a0 i heard amma’s voice.
\n‘what? she is singing? darshan is not yet over. how can it be?’ i ran to the stage.
\nyes amma is singing\u00a0 ‘chedulethi vedukolera….\u2019 a telugu bhajan.
\namma’s voice was something special. it has the innocence of a child and the power of a magnet. it reverberated throughout the hall very profoundly.
\neveryone was repeating after amma. all the instruments and chorus were playing from the area in front of the stage where the musicians sit while amma is giving darshan.
\nthen she started the next. that was also in telugu.
\nthen the 3rd, that too in telugu.
\nthen another one in malayalam and one in tamil.<\/p>\n
all this time amma was also giving darshan along with singing.<\/p>\n
wow!! what a session it was.<\/p>\n
it\u2019s quite interesting to see how amma does ‘multi-tasking’\u00a0 — listening to the people who come for darshan, whispering a word or two, asking them to do something, reading their letters or wiping the tears at the same time without missing the beat and still keeping the bhajan going. amazing. bhagavad gita says ‘yoga karmasu kausalam’\u00a0 here is something that we can see how that will be; a person without any attachments performing action.<\/p>\n
but still why did she sing like this?
\nlater i found out the reason for the special bhajans. there were a lot of telugu-speaking people who had come for amma’s darshan. they are the new batch of students of amrita university, bangalore. amma told them she sings telugu bhajans. but they have never heard even from a cd. all of them were meeting amma for the first time.
\namma said ‘ok, then i will sing for you’.
\nisn’t it rare that god sings for you – a real bhagavad gita?<\/p>\n
