Finger of Grace

The other night we were again watching Amma via web-cam, this time in Her ashram in San Ramon.

Okay, I’ll go straight to the point – that is the babies. What babies?

At the end of the Devi-bhava Amma often does baby feeding, that is blesses them by giving them some food with Her own hand. So this time also there was a cavalcade of those little fluffy creatures brought to Amma one after the other, one sweeter than the other. Being a brahmachari myself I never had the urge to get one those troublemakers myself, but I cannot help being jealous of them when I see them placed in Amma’s lap and happily sucking some sweet pudding from one of Her fingers. There was especially one little fluff ball that was absolutely engrossed in sucking Amma’s finger for at least 10 minutes. Every now and then he would glance at Amma who was just radiating Matru Bhava, and then go back to sucking the finger in pure bliss.

Now, why can’t I do that? I mean at least figuratively speaking (even though I wouldn’t object to the literal either). How to regain that innocence and be like one of those babies in front of Amma, in front of God? To be completely oblivious to my self and just let that grace flow in. Just to be open, let go of all concepts and conditions, and be free.

  1. It indeed was a blissful scene. I was lucky enough to be standing very next to the camera that was broadcasting to Amritapuri, so I could see what all of you were seeing!
Amma had all the time in the world for those little ones in spite of giving Darshan for almost 15 hours that day.
How blessed we are to be in Her presence.

  2. Nice write-up.

By the way the fluff ball is a “she”. Amma named her Aparna.
