With searing average temperatures of 40 deg celcius, in the midst of a dry, rainless spell, Palakkad wasn’t exactly the coolest place to be in this time of the year. The only reason, it happened to be THE place to be, or, if you would pardon the pun, the ‘hottest’ place to visit –
that our Mother, Amma was there in all Her splendour. After securing a much coveted darshan token, i made my way to Amma at about 10.45 pm, hoping as always for a ‘special’ darshan – a longer look, a ‘made-just-for-me’ smile, an infintely long hug (well, why not!).
After the initial sweet embrace, just as i was about to be yanked away by the all-too-ready hands of the darshan line monitors, Amma goes, “Ahh .. its you ..”, and takes me back into Her arms. Amma goes on to narrate that on recent Her flight to Mauritius – a lady (stewardess or
pilot) had used the mantra “Om Amriteswaryai Namah” during an inflight announcement. I had been bestowed the honour of piloting Her flight from Singapore to Kochi last year after Her Singapore programme. Without realising it, i had started my inflight address to passengers with “Om Amriteswaryai Namah”. Amma allowed me to savour that
memorable moment yet once again.
