I am one of the most fortunate amongst millions of people who have known AMMA . From the year 1991 I have had various experiences that have dragged more and more close to AMMA selflessly. One of the thrilling experience is the yearly function of ‘Avani-avittam ‘ which falls each year on the full moon day of the month of Sravan (August – September). This function is particularly important for the Hindus This day we change the sacred thread which we wear before teen age when symbolically the third eye or the eye of wisdom is opened. The holy festival of Upakarmam reminds one who wears the sacred thread of its glorious spiritual significance. We also offer libations of water to our ancestors to whom we owe our birth. The true Hindu never forgets his benefactors.

I have been very fortunate to get my new thread worn by the Holy Mother AMMA for the last three years. On 28th August this year also after the meditation, question answers and Prasad distribution AMMA wore this thread for those who were in line for this purpose. I experience the additional protection of AMMA in me through this function also. Who is fortunate these days to get this from ‘Kaali’ Herself. The recitation of Vedas on this great day is highly beneficial. AMMA’s satsang is more than hearing Vedas and enlightening. I feel fully protected from evil influences after AMMA wears this sacred thread for me.
