Famed American rock guitarist and singer J Mascis is holding a concert to benefit Amma’s charities on Saturday, 13 December. The concert will be held at Go Yoga (112 N. 6th Street, Brooklyn NY – 718-486-5602). Mascis will be joined by fellow New York musicians Andrew ‘Devadas’ Labrecque and Tony Jarvis.

Mascis is most famous as the leader of celebrated rock band Dinosaur Jr., formed in 1984 and continuing to this day. The group’s 1987 album Your Living All Over Me consistently places among critics lists of ‘Top 100 Greatest Rock Albums’ and Mascis is considered one of the greatest living rock guitarists.

A long-time devotee of Amma, Mascis has recorded a number of songs inspired by her, including “Ammaring” on the J Mascis & The Fog album More Light. In 2005, Mascis released an album titled J Mascis & Friends Sing for Amma, all of the proceeds to which are donated to the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. The album includes a heavy-metal version of the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram.

The album is available at AmmaShop
