Prostration and chocolate

Yesterday as mother came up to the stage she was confronted by a little toddler who would not budge, so mother started prodding him in the back making him move towards the peetham. As she was doing so she was at once scolding him and telling him that if he would do prostrations to the crowd she would reward him with chocolate. The little imp was a tough case to crack though. No bribery or threats would make him move so eventually mother took him by the neck gently and made him touch his head to the ground and in doing so she pushed him flat on the peetham, which he seemed to immensely enjoy. well, who wouldn’t like to be teased by Amma like that? Next mother was asking if anybody had a chocolote so she could fulfil her promise. Luckily Murali had some chocolates in his bag that he dug out and gave to mother so that her word would come true. The little boy was however so happy and amused by mother’s mischief that he did not even seem to need the chocolate, which Amma afterwards gave to Ramu (keyboard player) who distributed it to all of us.

    Namah Shivaya for posting the bhajans 🙂 Somehow there always seems to be at least one I know. I think I will follow Murali’s example and carry chocolates always. They will remind me of mother and make other smile at the same time. I may even use them to bribe my two year old (Andrew). However, he will prostrate to anything! He will eat half of any chocolate I give him and put the other half on the puja and say ‘Amma’s chocolate’. He loves to share with her and loves to gaze at her photograph 🙂

    This story reminds me the little boy in San Ramon last fall who walked in front of Amma in the hall before the evening talk/bhajans. He touched everybody’s hands just like Amma does. Amma was amused & smiling big to see such an innocent child. The boy walked directly to the peetham where he bowed to all, and everybody laughed. It was so cute to see Amma correcting him by taking him by the hands and made him offer pranams to all 1st & then prostrate. So both of them together bowed to the devotees almost at the same time.
    The Guru is the Light & Teacher of such innocent children! May we all bow to the whole creation! Jai Ma!

    The bhajan Sundar Hai Nayana sung by Amma is my favourite . Its feels so good to listen to this bhajan . Thank you so much to the webteam for posting all these updates and information about Ashram .
