What is Amma Doing, Where…?

The other day an acquaintance called me to ask what Amma has been doing of late.

Well, what should my answer be?

Here in the Ashram on darshan days Amma is available for Her children 12 to 16 hours a day.  During darshan we see Her in full action, with the Compassion button ‘on’. It expresses as bliss, as tears, as laughter, as anxiousness, as a soft embrace, as a kiss, as sweet words in the ear, as toffee, as sacred ash, as Matarani, and as many more things.

But in other ways, and in other places, She is performing more greater things on ever larger scales….

People call them miracles but Amma says they happen because of a person’s own faith. Call what you want, they are here as reality!

Here is one example…

Madhuri from Bhopal had a pot in her puja room into which she has been putting small amounts of money everyday in Amma’s name. This last week she was in the Ashram when she decided to buy an Amma Doll. She made enquires as to the cost, and found that she could easily have one for the money she had saved.  The next day, she went up to buy the doll, but added a few accessories, thinking that she would pay for the additional cost with other pocket money she had with her.

That was the exact amount of her pot collection saved in Amma’s Name. Not one rupee less, not one rupee more.

“Deedi,’, she said to me in tears of gratitude, recounting the story, ‘it was Amma buying this for me. She has accepted my everyday offerings. Or how could such a coincidence have happened?”
