Thank You

1 April 2008 — Mines Exhibition and Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Amma’s programs in Malaysia are huge—some of the biggest outside India. This year more than 20,000 people came. As such, Amma decided to give darshan as she does on her India tours, with people coming to her standing as opposed to kneeling.

One of my sevas was to help usher people out of Amma’s arms upon conclusion of their darshan. One night, a group of about 50 children came for darshan. These were the same children who, upon Amma’s arrival, had lined her pathway to the dais, holding candles. As they came out of Amma’s arms, I couldn’t help but notice the smiles on their faces and the twinkles in their eyes. They seemed in such bliss! It was so sweet.

In this seva, I often have to hand prasad to those who failed to take it directly from Amma. As I pressed the prasad into their little hands, each one, without exception, turned to me and said ‘Thank you!’ I was so humbled and touched by their sweetness and innocence—at the same time, thinking that they shouldn’t be thanking me, but /Amma/. So each time they said this to me, I would sort of mentally offer it to Amma on their behalf.

Later that evening, even many adults were thanking me!The humility and gratitude of the Malaysian devotees really touched my heart.
