6 September 2008,  Purnia, Bihar

We arrived with the medical team at Purnia on the 6th morning after detraining at Kathiar, as the tracks further down have been washed away by the river at several places… We called on the local MP Shri Uday Singh, who has been very helpful from the beginning and has been helping out with the transportation, accommodation, logistics, local contacts, etc.

An important aspect of the medical team is the Tele-medicine van from AIMS, which has satellite connectivity, along with facilities for X-rays, Pathological tests, ECG, Ventilator, etc. It will provide a great tool to connect with the  specialist doctors at AIMS at any moment. The Tele-medicine van should be reaching here within few days. We had tried to have it transported by air, but that was not possible.

We are putting continuous efforts in contacting govt officials and ministers at various levels to speedily have our base camp set in Purnia.

After lunch, the team set out for our seva.
