First medical camp in flooded Bihar
6 Sep 2008, Bhavani pur, Bihar
Ashram brahmachari, Dr. Ram Mohan reports:
“Today’s medical camp was in Bhavanipur. We attended over 200 cases. This was our first day. The people are really poor. Most of them are anemic or have respiratory infections. There was no sign of epidemic in this village so far.”
The medical team consists of Dr. Vishnu, his wife Dr. Beena – a pediatrician, Dr. Sachin – a surgeon, Dr. Rajeev Yadav – head & neck surgeon, all from AIMS. Dr Rajeev Yadav hails from Bihar.
“A 12 year old girl died today here because of pneumonia. So far no medical camp was conducted in this village” says Nijamrita.
“We had to travel a long distance to this village, many places roads are not there. We even had to cross a collapsed bridge to reach this village. Now it will take at least 2 hours to get back to the base camp in Purnia. Now its 8.p.m.” says Saswat.
