Amma & elephants

6 Sep 2008, Amritapuri

Amma has been feeding both elephants in front of her house last Mon, Tue and Friday after Bhajans. Such a sight.. how they stand in front of the hut, and all the trees there. I watched from above, front of my room, how Amma interacted with them.
So beautiful.
They both behave so well now. When Amma comes they bow and trumpet Om namah Shivaya in unison, and also when she leaves. A touching scene of how Amma is the manifestation of the shakti of nature herself. She is in full swing feeding them, caressing them and teaching them lessons in patience and in sraddha, not to waste one crumb of the food she offers them.

  1. When I was there in Amrutapuri a few months ago, I saw Ram and Lakshmi going to the College workyard….I was blessed enough to have them pass by me and give me a glance as I learned that they actually go to work lifting the wood with their trunks many hours of the day. A bramachari informed me that they need to feel uselful too, just like humans…so even the elephants do seva too!!! This must be why they are so happy now! Amma has put them to work….How BLESSED they are!
