It’s been raining outside the past few days.  Is the sky raining tears of joy or tears of sorrow?

It’s the last night of Tour and Amma in on stage here in Toronto wearing a beautiful green sari.

Seven weeks of tour is almost over.  Along the way, we’ve been introduced to new friends, new bhajans, new perspectives on the meaning of life.  We’ve sung along with Amma the joyful tunes of the new Punjabi Bhajans Mayyaji Menu Tu Chahidi and Khol Dwarza, embellished by Ramanand’s sonorous voice. We’ve watched cultural performances from around the world – African, Indian, Native American, and Haitian Dancing, Gospel Choirs, African Drumming, Folk music.  Old and young, we’ve experienced the infinite reach of Amma’s love on a truly global scale.

Is it all really ending so soon?

Hopefully, while Amma is showering flower petals on us early this morning, as we pass by, we will be imbibing her love and tucking it away as a jewel that we will cherish during the coming year while she is physically apart from us.   For those in Amritapuri, Amma’s return marks the end of two months of her absence.  There, Amma will continue to hug and bless thousands upon thousands.

Amma, we will miss your smile, your laughter, your glances.   For whether we are raining tears of joy or tears of sorry, as you have said to us time after time – you reside in our hearts.  May that light of love shine through us all as we head back to our lives in the world, hopefully living your message and inspiring others to love and serve as you’ve been teaching us year after year after year.

  1. Petals fall from the clouds,
    Washing away humble and proud,
    In the scent of Amma’s love,
    Silent flower from above.

    Her nectar from heaven,
    Like fragrant leaven,
    Soaks up all tears;
    Heals our brethren.

    And in the wake,
    Of glorious rain,
    Each drop creates,
    Blissful peace; lack of pain.

    No more stagnancy,
    All in flow,
    Lovely ripples,
    Continue to grow.

    Till all is bathed,
    And rocked to sleep,
    In mother’s arms;
    Her dream to keep.

  2. Here in Amritapuri, eveyone is waiting eagerly for Amma’s return. Painting, washing, cleaning, lining up chairs, flower pots near Amma’s steps; all works near ending. The whole ashram looks like it got a new life. Everyone smiling and even nature looks like someone pressed the ‘refresh’ button!
    We know how hard it is for someone to be separated from Amma. 🙂

  3. Tears of joy as AMMA is coming after such a loooooooooong time. Tears of sorrow of missing her. As it has been raining in Delhi from 23rd, the day of the end of her foreign tour.

  4. Rainy showers of fathomless bliss
    As AMMA draws Her child with an embrace.

  5. Tears of Joy for Sure!

  6. why tears flow in Her presence or in Her absence i have no idea. The skies must feel the same i guess 🙂
