  1. Well, considering that I make or receive around 25 calls per day, and that I spend an average of 3 minutes on each call, then the total is 75 minutes, which is 1 hour and 15 minutes… probably a bit more even… That is too much I think!

  2. Mostly 30 mins daily, it varies. Here at the ashram, on Amma’s darshan days, the time reduces to 10 mins or so. The wonderful part is, saying the Maha-Mantra, ‘Om Namah Sivaya’ each time i get to talk. Looking behind I sometimes stand wondering, how much Amma has changed me through all these years also in this!

  3. My Divine AMMA has changed me drastically once upon a time I would be on telephone every moment. After meeting my MAA, this bad habit has been controlled. My office work keeps me on the phone; otherwise personally only important calls.

  4. I dont like talking over the phone much as we cannot see the person at the other end. So I spend only a few mins, but I always have wished that wish Amma had a cell phone and we Her children could talk to Amma at the click of a number to ask Amma about Her health.

  5. It varies. But an average of half-an-hour a day. Sometimes long distance calls can be for an hour or so. Mostly, people call or I call to connect. Each one tries to talk non-stop and sometimes i just listen and at other times I stand by the side of the spikking rope and jump in whenever I can. Often my hand and head hurt from the process. It’s not useful but there is a need for the connection.

  6. I work in a call centre so a lot, but for personal use not very much. I do however spend a lot of time on online chat. Maybe a little too much time!

  7. Nowadays a lot of my time is spent in talking on the phone on certain days, mostly personal calls. Professionally it’s a lot of email correspondence which is a blessing. The personal calls are getting longer and longer, something that has been bothering for a while. Well, I am trying to bring the calls down.

  8. Never! I hate phones! (Especially those who ring when Amma or Swamiji leads the meditation!) Even my boss contact me by email, knowing I won’t answer, it’s always off actually. I use it only for emergencies.

  9. Phone keeps hearts connected,makes distances closer…
When Amma isn’t in India, i take all liberty to be a spoilt gal, talking to that special person, into wee hours of the night….and, When Amma is around, life is so full of Amma, that there isn’t time to talk!!!
    🙂

  10. Funny question :),
If we were all able to consciously read minds and thoughts we would save a lot of money on phone calls.
A cell phone is like a Prayer – the more we call the more answers we get. When the Lord calls – it usually goes to voice mail ! 🙂 LOL
It’s a quote I heard from another enlightened Master. It’s totally how I see it too. Amma is always available – all we have to do is open the ‘phone lines’ and wait for the answer.
Otherwise I spend about 9hours/month for all my calls.

  11. It varies. Sometimes local calls can be for an hour or so. Mostly, people call or I call them. Each one tries to talk non-stop and sometimes i just listen. Here in New Zealand fixed rate for phone are applied; if we talk 3 hours or 3 minute no problem, $40per month. Generally in Auckland people are more comfortable with phone talk, instead of going visiting friends.

  12. Very little, sometimes never!!
If it wasn’t for my kids and parents, sometimes my cell doesn’t ring for days!!
Before Amma it was totally different,,, i always used to “need” to call my friends and beloved ones, and used to “need” people to call me,,, it was obviously the Ego who needed to feel important!
    Not anymore…

  13. Well I am a person who on an average talks for about 2 hours. But this is the case only when I speak to my friends. Otherwise in cases where I am with my friends something like in the hostel, the talk time would be hardly 10-15 minutes a day.

  14. i dont spend any time at all on the phone…i have the internet…:D

  15. Average time would be 15-20 minutes.

  16. less than 10 mts per day…usually i forget to carry it with me…so i get more missed calls 🙂

  17. I usuallly spend around 20 to 30 minuts daily and in weekends may be at the most one hour….

  18. Hardly any thanks to expensive charges in Canada, but it’s the only phone for incoming calls so gets used just for brief incoming calls, not usually longer than a few minutes, once or twice a week thankfully. In the UK I had 900 free minutes offpeak and so used it for hours daily.

  19. I spend very little time on the phone. Probably less than 15 minutes a day unless I’m on a conference call regarding some satsang project. I communicate mostly through email.

  20. Only a few minutes …

  21. Before i used to talk on the phone for hours. When the phone bill came i could realize how much time and money i was wasting. Now it is reduced into one or two calls of 2 minutes per day (average). My cell phone is not working nowadays!

  22. Well I make lots of phone calls and receive lots of phone calls daily. I really don’t like being on the phone too long, but the people I’m on the phone with enjoy long conversations on the phone. But it’s a better way of communication than texting.

  23. It varies from day to day.On an average, I talk on phone just 20-30 mins a day. But at times it does happen that I receive calls from an old friend or some important call for discussion which last for about 1hour or so. It’s better that we curb unnecessary chatting over phones. It might be a pleasure to us but there are so many birds which are getting affected due to the electromagnetic waves. Some are even entering extinction. Try using it wisely.
