Amma is a tree; we the flowers
Interview with Ms. Shruti Menon
“Selfless service, truthfulness, peace and grace – all combined together is ‘Amma’, according to me. I came to know of Amma after joining Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for my BSc course. I was very greatly inspired by Amma’s words of wisdom which motivated me to join as a volunteer for doing service on the occasion of Amma’s Birthday celebrations.
As Amma says, ‘An individual’s life is complete only when he/she serves the needy and shares love and affection with all’ – This aspect motivated me to join as a volunteer to manage Vidyamritam kids. I’m enjoying doing this service to such an extent that I do not realize how time passes in this seva. The sweet smiles, innocence and belongingness of these children are so wonderful, they generate a lot of positive energy in me. All this energy and inspiration is coming only from our beloved Amma, ultimately. I feel really satisfied that I have done something for Amma. I have decided to come back every year to do seva during Amma’s birthday celebrations.
The happiness and satisfaction one gets from sharing love and serving others can’t be obtained from any other thing. Amma is like a huge tree of which we are all like small flowers. While serving mankind, we just blossom out on this Tree and spread Her fragrance all around.
