To heal the pain of people
7th grader Anandu S from Clappana differs from other boys of his age in every sense. He visualizes the days of glory when he grows up into a famous actor like Mukesh, but also dreams about healing people by becoming a doctor. He spends his leisure reading comic books but never misses an opportunity to solve tough mathematical problems when he is sitting idle.
Vidyamritam has been a platform for him to twirl his dreams into reality of becoming a doctor when he grows up. “I am really happy to have got the opportunity to avail the benefits of the scholarship. I want to heal the pain of people and want to cure their diseases by giving them medicines when I grow up,” he said.
Earning a mere salary for subsistence by twisting coir to support her two children (Anandu has an elder sister), Anandu’s mother feels that half the battle has been won. After losing her husband, the prime bread earner of the family, the scholarship has transcended to endow a ray of hope in their life.
