Mukti, my wife, and I went to darshan about 2AM at the last Devi Bava in San Ramone this past June. Amma asked us to sit near her. A young Indian woman came for darshan to ask many detailed questions in a mixture of Hindi, Malayalam, and English. We heard the word “physics” pop into her conversation with Mother. Mukti wagged her finger at me; “Watch out”, she said, “This is about you.”

Rhadika Nair, who was standing behind the chair pointed to me, as she told Amma that I was a physics professor. Amma gave me a big smile. We left the stage totally energized. I went to sit in a chair by the side of the hall to watch darshan and listen to bhajans.

Fifteen minutes later, I was called back to the chair. This time Amma said, “Amma wants you to come to Amritapuri and help start the new integrated physics-math program at her university. What grace, a direct request from our beloved Guru and I immediately I pranamed and said, “Yes Amma.”

I had thought that I was in a retirement phase of life. Now, a few weeks later, I’m here in the Amritapuri ashram commuting across the backwaters to Amma’s new university.

People have asked me if I like it; but what’s to like or dislike when I am in Amma’s loving service.
