Swimming with Ma-Om
I had this insight when swimming.
The mantra I use is Ma Om.
Under water I use Om.
It is the internal.
The effort you make in the stroke is up to you,
no one can see, no one can do it for you.
This is the relationship with the Self.
When I come up for air, that is Ma.
She is always there, like the breath.
As the breath, we need Her to keep going.
It always seems quick, coming up for air, it is so fleeting,
just enough time with Her so we don’t drown.
This is my swimming practice:
Effort, grace, effort, grace…
Om… Ma… Om… Ma…
I can give unending effort,
because i know She is there when i come up for air.
She powers my effort,
I cannot swim, or do much of anything without Her…
Ma… Om…

May the humming of Ma and Aum
Enable to cross over and swim
The Ocean of Samsara deep an’ impenetrable
The strength coming by grace immeasurable.
