  1. Nothing in this world can give us permanent joy, so we get bored with everything. things and people of this world give us temporary happiness so after a while we get bored of the same people and things. but our Amma is bliss. hence even after many darshans still the joy of seeing Amma never diminishes. so if we try to see Amma and percieve Amma’s presence in everyone and everything around us, we will never get bored in this world. lets percieve Amma, the pure consciousness in everything.

  2. We get bored when we have nothing to do which will give pleasure. A person who is always engaged will never get bored. A real devotee never gets bored. He hardly gets time to complete his responsibilities and to follow the advise and instructions of his Master Lazyness and boredom are related. One who is chanting Mantra continuosly will never get bored.

  3. i think it’s a lack of joy which comes because we are not in the present moment and are waiting for something better in the future.
When we are in the present moment we see how everything is so perfect and beautiful, we can hear the birds singing, watch the sky and just sit for hours without getting bored. So just remember God or sing a bhajan and the joy will be back.

  4. I do not ever feel bored!
The moment my mind wanders or slips away from Blessed Amma I re-center on my Guru and all is well.
The only way to be bored is to be fully ego minded and having your latest acquisition grown old and lost its shine.
Seeking fulfillment outside of me is not where the Lotus blooms. It is always and has always been inside.
Witness the day go by. There is no boredom.

  5. Boredome and lazyness are similar. When we are bored we are lacking creativity. If we don’t know what to do then relaxing (meditate) is a good way of enjoying. We should never get bored, because it’s boring!

  6. Absence of Love within …

  7. I too think that boredom and laziness are similar and are linked. We get bored when we have too much of whatever that might be, or when we do not appreciate our life and that which is bestowed on us. It is lack of love and lack of gratitude. Boredom comes from taking things for granted. Also lack of a real and good purpose in life results in boredom. If our heart and mind are concentrated on the divine in and around us, and if we really want to practise Amma’s teachings and stay closely connected to the love She is and bestows on us I don’t think boredom can affect us.

  8. I do not really feel bored. What I do feel is restlessness whenever I am not doing seva or japa. Even when I am just sitting, I imagine everyone else in the room to either be, or look like Amma. That certainly gets rid of any boredom and it is certainly joyful! I have to watch myself when I do that, or else I’ll start tearing up!!

  9. I think we are bored when there is nothing ‘entertaining’ to do. When we are bored, we are the farthest away from God and we tend to do things that arent’ really good for us. You get restless and feel uncomfortable. To go beyond boredom, you have to say your mantra and keep on remembering God. Do seva, sing bhajan, and think of Amma!!

  10. perhaps to the ego, spiritual discipline is like a tiger in a 3X6 ft. zoo cage that is fed tiger chow to sustain.. when so much is withdrawn one of the layers of egoic defense might be boredom?

  11. when i went for darshan in Delhi, Amma asked me whether you were bored on this north Indian tour.. or did you enjoyed it…?
i said.. i enjoyed… and then while coming back to amritapuri the train was delayed for 8 hours because of various reasons… that means i had to sit on that train for almost 3 days… it was really really really boring experience… i really wanted to jump out of that train…
while on tour with Amma, we travel in a bus and we sometimes sit in this small cramped space in one position for hours / days together… but we never get bored… there is this anticipation that Amma is going to stop for giving us food or sharing few jokes or maybe she will talk to us… she will sing few bhajans… that thought makes us always alert, happy and in a state of constant remembrance of Amma. and we never get bored… and we enjoy every moment of it…..

  12. Swami Parmatmanandaji says in one of His talks that when we get onto this path we experience ‘industrial grade tamas’ at some point. I know exactly what that means. How boring everything (except Amma ) is! Everything happens with Amma’s grace and sankalpa. This feeling is also part of that. When Amma wants she will swish it away.

  13. when we are in the body concious we get bored. when we achieve something we need new things for not getting bored. even while chanting and praying the mind wanders because it is bored. even the mind cannot sit through amma’s full program. it needs to eat, sleep wander about. if the mind is in control we get bored. if atma is in control there will not any boredom.

  14. One gets bored when one is ruled by his/her mind. Once we have have realized our Inner self then we are deep engrossed in the internal bliss available in every moment. before Amma’s darshan in Delhi I was engrossed in waiting to meet Her, when she was there I was patiently waiting for my turn for darshan and now she has gone I am waiting for her next visit to Delhi! Where do i have the time to get bored when I am always thinking about my beloved AMMA?

  15. Not being able to live in the present we normal human beings feel / experience boredom. Amma and realized souls never get bored at any point of time. I am trying to imbibe Amma’s teaching to my life and hope / wish I would be able to get rid of boredom one day.

  16. Oh Amma!! You surely never run out of things to do. Please give me lots of courage so I can come find you. I need to chant my mantra instead of thinking, that would really help me. The difference is always so black and white.

  17. I think we get bored when we are not helping or doing something for others. Many times I have boring moments at work, but aside from chanting my mantra if I can figure out a way to help someone else then I am not bored. With helping someone there is always something to do, a problem to be solved and action to take. As long as there are people to help and a mantra to chant one should never get bored. The next time you are bored ask yourself “Who can I help today and how?”. Then boredom will disappear!

  18. if one is seeking self realization he never feels bored because not even a second should be wasted. so much work has to be done.

  19. I believe that if you are spiritually inclined you can read scriptures with commentaries or biographies of saints. If you are not spiritually inclined then you can read some of the popular books such as Bhagavad Gita and Bible during bed time. If you cannot even read these books, then you can pick up books that have morals. If you hate books that has just printed words, pick up Amar chitra katha picture stories of the past. If you don’t like books go out and watch nature. If you have been blessed by Amma and that you can practice her teachings there is no boredom at all

  20. An answer to this question is hidden in another question (80). When we love everyone around us, we are actually realizing that “they” are actually “ourselves”. Why Amma is going around the World and giving all Her children comfort and love? I believe it is because Amma feels that all her children are herself. The whole Universe is Herself. The “personal” chores each of us has to do at that point is virtually unlimited. There is not enough time in this small life time to complete all these. When this thinking occurred to our mind, then we realize that boredom is originating from lack of this awareness. I think everybody is fascinated by Amma because She is showing to all of us this through her life.
