nanda gopan tapamirunnu
25 aug 2008, amritapuri
the night of krishna jayanthi at amritapuri is some thing to be seen, to be a participant in, to be experienced. amma is always smiling. today her smile has a speciality – a bewitching one.
she is ecstatic and she takes all others to this realm of bliss.
how do i describe it?
the bhagavata reading was fantastic. you can feel the devotion. the particular chapter describes how nature was preparing itself for the birth of sri krishna.
as midnight strikes, when the stanzas are sung that krishna is with all the divine attributes, then the gong, counch, bell and drums go ringing. arati is performed. amma fed the idol of baby sri krishna with honey.
amma started singing ‘agatanay aganay vishnu devan,’ – the lord vishnu has come – then few other bhajans like ‘nanda gopan tapamirunnu’ – which is one of the best. after a brief talk, amma rose to her feet and started dancing to the tune of ‘narayana narayana jaya govinda hare’ it was out of this world. the whole hall was singing and dancing, swaying their hands with the rhythm of amma’s dance. {dont miss the video. watch it here}
when it started raining after the celebration, i remembered that after krishna’s birth, there was a big thunder shower in mathura.
