    Day 3 in Raichur Today, we took break to visit the village which was suffered from the terrible flood. The people who live in there will move to the houses we are building right now. After the breakfast we started walking to the village. 15 minutes later, we faced to the river, so we crossed it by small and round boats. It was cool!!!  It looked like a boat in a fairy tale.   • Day2: Incredible India

    Hi from Raichur! Today,our second day we have keep working on Anma’s housing project. Our group members collect and packed metals, moving hundreds of bricks,and put sands on the foundation part of houses. After working under the strong sunshine,we got a opportunity to go to Shiva Temple. It is located at the top of small mountain covered with huge rocks. We had 15mins hiking to reach the Temple.     Hello hello, This is the first message from Raichur 🙂 We arrived at Raichur yesterday, and we started the house building project today. OK, I’ll show you the today’s work below. No,1 We unloaded many bricks from tracks. These are needed for basic part and wall. Approximately 1000 bricks 😮 No, 2 We also made the basic part of houses. We were bringing sands into the holes which are made by bricks, and made them flat by tools. No,3 We cleaned up the fence of window.   • Will Amma visit this area?

    On the next day the team got ready early as we supposed to visit a village on the outskirts of Kurnool town. Soon some local policemen arrived to escort us to the village. We drove for nearly an hour through flood affected areas. For kms at a stretch one could see mountains of waste material on both sides of the road, which people had dumped from the town and the nearby villages.     Budwarpet Day 2 started with frenzied activity as the medical team from AIMS Cochin and the small group of dedicated devotees from the Hyderabad centre of the Math led by Br. Raghunath who manages the Math’s Hyderabad Centre, started sorting the large quantity of medicines that had come from AIMS and also those sponsored by the local devotees, into groups for easy distribution. The scores of sacks of rice were made into smaller packets to be distributed at different flood affected villages.   • Flood relief in Kurnool

    Around 4 AM on the 5th of October there was a call from Amma enquiring on the on flood situation in Andhra Pradesh. I conveyed the information that I had gathered from the media and also our devotees circle in AP. The situation there was pretty bad and it was said that this was the worst floods in a 100 yrs. The AP administration was totally unprepared for this kind and this scale of flood, though it is said that part of it was due to their making. Amma than sent me to AP to co ordinate the relief work…

  • Cyclone Aila Deulbari Village

    Cyclone Relief – West Bengal 2009 With great difficulty we managed to carry all the stores and supplies from the launch alighting point to the village. Many locals also helped us. The village was totally ravaged by the flood waters. Roads were washed away and houses damaged. Huge stacks of hay had been displaced and were now sitting bang on the middle of the road because of the surging waters.   • Started the camp

    Bengal Cylone Releif 2009 31st May 2009, Naginabad Village The first patient arrived at 5AM and we had to gently convey to him that the clinic would not open until 8AM as everything had to be set up. We soon organized the store, the kitchen and the clinic along with the pharmacy. It took more time per patient than it would have normally taken as we needed to use an interpreter between the doctor and the patient, as the local knew no other language leaving Bengali.
