Amma has been singing songs in different languages for a few years now. Of course, She has been singing bhajans in different Indian languages for ages… (of which few of us westerners understand the difference). I remember how, maybe five years ago, She asked me to write the first english one. That’s how Lord of Vrindavan came into being.

Last January I heard that Swamiji had been asking for a faster and more joyful english Bhajan for Amma to sing. I always liked singing “Sita Ram, Sita Ram…” It somehow tasted sweet in my mouth… So I sat down and started writing.

Last night I went for Bhajans and as usual, sat on the side of the stage where I could have a good view on Amma. From the very beginning, She kept on looking at my direction with a mischevious smile on Her lips. I wasn’t sure if She was looking at me… But I soon found out that She actually was.

She called me to sing “Hail to Your Glory” with Her. And while I was having this wonderful experience of singing with Mother, I was thinking with tears of gratitude in my eyes: “Hail to Her Glory…”

“Your name will protect me, I’ll come to no harm singing Ram, Jay Jay Ram, Jay Jay Ram, Sita Ram!”
