Light that removes darkness

There was a lot a crowd for the morning darshan. The program was held at the Marriott Pyramid North hotel in an indoor hall. At about 3:30 PM, the power went off in the program hall and it became pitch dark (yes, power cut happens in US too!). Someone brought a cell phone near Amma to illuminate Amma using its light. This was followed by someone else brining a laptop. Video cameras followed with their flash lights to illuminate Amma’s area. There was a silence in the hall and suddenly people started chanting ‘Om Amriteshwaryai Namaha’. In a few minutes, the power came back and the entire hall was again illuminated with light. The word Guru means ‘the light that removes the darkness’. When we pray to the Guru during the dark times of our lives, the Guru removes the darkness by bringing in light.

In today’s satsang, Amma emphasized on cultivating patience.

We could only pray to Amma like the lyrics in the “Samsara Dukha Samanam“ bhajan from today – “Cast a glance with Thy beautiful glowing eyes on my mind. O Mother, Thy Grace is the only means for reaching Thy Lotus Feet”.

    during this time, I was in, of all places, the men’s room. When the lights went out, it was completely pitch black. I felt my way around slowly but confidently that I would find the door out. Finally, I did, and found my way out to the light. In our daily lives, we are mostly grasping around in the dark for some meaning, some direction. With faith and grace, Amma always leads us out.

    When the external world’s lights ‘go out’ leaving ‘me’ in darkness, I should be able to easily find the light of Amma’s grace, within, instantly. This would be the result of sincere sadhana and surrender.

    When we are sitting in front of Divine light as bright as thousands of Suns, where is the need for external lights! i would love to sit quietly in front of THAT Divine light of AMMA for ever.
