15 Sep 2008, Bowanipur, Bihar
The last two days were quite hectic as the temporary shelters along with a kitchen, toilets, etc were nearing completion and we were planning to have a small inaugural function before the camp was started, to create awareness and also inspire others to take up similar such activities. The camp with a capacity to accommodate around 500 people would be inaugurated at 4.30 pm on 16th September 2008.
Yesterday, Bri Rasamrita, who was entrusted the responsibility of managing the Kitchen, arrived in Purnea after procuring all the vessels, etc that would be needed for cooking & serving at the camp. The govt officials have been very supportive and encouraging us in all our service and charitable endeavors. We have been provided with a menu for meals to be served at the camp by the local administration.
All around people are amazed at the pace at which the work has been completed, as things tent to happen a little slower around here. We had reached here for the first time only on the night of 3rd of this month and by Amma’s grace, we could within less than two weeks, put up the shelters and have the camp up and running. The flood victims from nearby districts, who have been housed in nearby schools are being shifted to our camp this afternoon, so that the schools can be reopened soon.
Shri Avadesh Narain Singh Minister for Labour, Govt of Bihar has readily accepted to come and inaugurate the camp this evening. Accompanying him will be the District Magistrate and other officials from the local administration. We pray to Amma for Her blessings and seek the wishes of all for a successful inauguration.
