Jupiter and Venus

23 November 2008
San Ramon

The San Ramon Asram was packed with visitors – many coming for the first time to receive Amma’s embrace.   At approximately 10am, Amma arrived at the hall and began giving darshan after a brief meditation.   Though the morning was crisp, the sky was clear and the day quickly warmed up as the sun rose higher.  Typically, this is rainy season in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we have been blessed (some say) with dry weather.  Hopefully it will stay this way until after Amma leaves for Michigan.

Morning darshan ended around 4:30pm. The crowd was huge – as is typical during November tour as this is Amma’s only stop in the Western US.   Amma was going unusually fast in order to receive all the new people who had come.  Soon after Amma left, the sun set and the sky got darker. Both Venus and Jupiter could be seen fairly close together in the western sky.  Venus is the planet of Love and Jupiter – that of the guru (in Vedic astrology), so how auspicious is it that both Love and Guru would be visible in the sky during Amma’s visit!

Amma came back to the hall for the evening program at 7:30pm.  Both Venus and Jupiter had disappeared behind the mountain ridge to the west of the Ashram, or had already set below the horizon.  Another huge crowd had gathered in the hall – not a spare spot was to be found.   Swami Ramakrishna gave a wonderful satsang filled with humorous spiritual stories.   Amma did not give satsang tonight.  Instead, bhajans started a bit early.

Amma sang:

Daya Karo Tu
Sri Krishna Sharanam Amma
New Malayalam bhajan
Meri Jhopadi
Annai Entra Sondama
Om Namah Sivayah
Ambe Galanu
Mata Bhavani

  1. Thank you Sri Pati! I love when the Bhajans are posted! Your description of the weather and the planets made my day. What a beautiful picture my mind drew to match to your post. Jai Amma for your thoughtfulness to those of us who cannot be there. Aum Amriteshwaryai Namaha.

  2. As usual it was very interesting to read brief news around AMMA.
And the beautiful picture of the sky after sun set where we saw a rare scene, the presence of both Asura Guru (Venus) and Deva Guru (Jupiter). In AMMAs presence everything becomes auspicious.
Adi moola param jyothi azhi mathe uzhi mathe
    Adi antham ezhathulla samsrithi mathe

  3. this brought a smile to my heart. my boys and i have been following the stars and planets more than usual. i told my son that Amma (Jupiter-guru) and Her love (Venus) are always with us even when we can’t ‘see’ Her or be in Her presence. we will no longer just see the planets when we look up! how beautiful. thank you.
