Amma – the personification of selflessness

Interview with Mr. Sudhesh & Mr. Brahmanandan, boatmen of Vallickavu jetty
We have been here for many years and have known Amma in Her younger days. We remember Amma as the One who always used to help the distressed, wherever they were, as much as she helped people in and around her own village. The Ashram, under Amma’s guidance, has grown in stature and service by leaps and bounds over the years. A lot of social work with love is the specialty of this Ashram.
Amma has no rest as she has to ensure that everybody around her is benefitted. The very presence of Amma enriches the place, making it holy. Foe every human being, it is really good to know that there is somebody who can hear his/her problems and provide solutions. It is only the presence of Amma that brings people from all over the globe over to this place.
Our lives are indeed a standing testimony to some of Amma’s miracles. One event that struck our chords was when we had the opportunity to work with Amma during the tsunami relief days. It was one of the best experiences that we love to remember always. Amma personally stayed there and guided every person across the backwaters to safety. She refused to cross over the backwaters herself, until she had made sure that she was the last person. I was astonished by the dedication and love that she exhibited at that point of time. We are all indebted to Amma for her ever continuing love and support. All that I have to say on this occasion is that we are all happy to be with Amma on this occasion.
