The Future
11 Jul 2008, Amritapuri
For the past few days it has been almost like Amma is in Amritapuri. There are people all over the place – a couple of boys from Bihar asking for directions to get to the accomodation office, you turn around and there is a family from the Gulf loaded with a new mattress and shining new buckets and many packets in their hands, and there, you find innumerable families from Andhra Pradesh,….
Ah ha! It is admission time! A whole new batch of students, their parents, relatives, relatives’ relatives, all have descended on Amritapuri. Some have opted for engineering, some for B.Com, some want BioTech – it is a conglomerate of people who are so different but are so same in many ways. And it is beautiful! For on the faces of the new students we can see the future – their hopes and dreams, and the years in the campus which will give mould these, build a foundation to the dream castles they have dreamt.
The University classes started 2 days ago with a formal function.
The parents have all gone back, but still we do see students all over the place. There are long queues in front of the phone booth as the children wait each day to call back home.
I am waiting for Amma to come back. Most of these new children have not met Amma, it will be nice to see the first darshan, their response – the smile on Amma’s face, the light of Her love on their face. It is always wonderful to watch that magic.

Beautifully played brother.
While reading, i felt Ammas hand on my shoulder, as she wiped my tears of gratitude for her blessing.
