Remote control for the mind
Tonight Amma sang mostly older songs with a couple of new ones. The little children behind Amma were a bit unruly and at one point Amma turned around and asked them if they were singing along. They nodded happily, “yes, yes, Amma,” and the next moment they were all going wild again. At first I was a bit irritated at the commotion but then I thought to myself, “I maybe manage to look fairly dignified, but have I controlled my mind or is it still like a restless child? Is my mind under my command and can I lay it down…

Peaceful Monday
It was a quiet Monday in Amritapuri today, as it usually is after Amma’s long Sunday darshan. Tonight’s bhajans were really nice with a lot of old songs and a few nice new ones like Mohalu Camppara Gauri Ramana, which I find very nice. The song list tonight was as follows: Nandakumara VanditarupaIni Oru JanmamUshkala NeramTiruvati Tedi Vanten (Tamil)Oru Kochu PulnambinOm Namah ShivayaManare (Tamil)Mohalu Camppara Gauri Ramana (Telugu)Pukare Maiyya (Hindi) Lyrics to the new Telugu song: Mohalu Camppara Gauri RamanaManasuna Nimppara Ni Smarana Oh Gauri Ramana (Shiva), Kill all my desires and fill my mind with memories of You. The Creation of Amritapuri.org
The month of April marks two special anniversaries for all of Amritapuri.org’s dedicated fans. It was on Vishu Day of the year 2000 (15th April) that your favorite website was launched. Two weeks earlier, the first issue of Amritavani, E-newsletter was emailed to addresses that had been collected from previous e-mails. It was during a lunch stop with Mother during North India Tour 2000 (February-March) that Dhyanamrita came to find me with a biggest smile on his face and proudly announced: “Cheerful!” I smiled back and thought he was referring to that precious quality that spiritual aspirants should maintain. “Cheerful…”…

Vishu eve
Vishu is the start of the Zodiac New Year—when the sun enters into Sidereal Aries, Ashwini nakshatra—is celebrated as Vishu About 150 children and students gathered in front of the Temple and lit firecrackers after Amma finished darshan. It was fun to focus the camera in the darkness anticipating the bursts of light. Dhyanamrita 14 April 2007

There is no difference
Finally things are back to normal. Amma returned from Reunion and Mauritius the day before yesterday and has been coming out for a question and answer session on both days. It is nice after the tour to be back in Amritapuri and enjoy Amma’s presence and talks here at home for a change. There is a cheery atmosphere everywhere. Amma came early for bhajans today. Even after sitting for Her bhajans for twelve years I still don’t experience any boredom, even with the songs that Amma has been singing most often. I really love all kinds of music but even…

Amma is back in Amritapuri
After 6+ weeks, the Ashram is alive again.as Amma returned to Amritapuri at approximately 10:50am this morning. Her camper came in the north entrance of the Ashram and slowly made its way through the throngs of residents and visitors who had gathered. About 200 people were waiting the base of her home. Amma exited the camper and walked towards the staircase, stopping along the way to chat briefly with a few of the brahamacharinis. About midway up the stairs, Amma turned towards the crowd. “Did you eat?” Amma asked. The crowd chimed back the same question to her, which elicited…

First Bhajans
On the first day after returning from Reunion and Mauritius Amma sang many of the new songs from the tour. Most have not yet been published in the bhajan supplements. Maybe it was better to just stare at Amma rather than the books on the first day. The songs were: Manasa ChoraOru Nalum PiriyattoMere Hridaya Sri Rama BaseVarumo IniyumOm Shakti Om ShaktiOm Namah ShivayaAmme Bhagavati NityakanyeJay Jay Janani Vishwanath11 april 2007
