  • Inspired by Amma

April 11, 2010, Milano, Italy Even here, Amma inspires us all the time. She is beyond what we can imagine yet her acts of Grace keeps us so enthusiastically happy. Recently we read that Amma had started a new center for the Differently-Abled. Amma’s vision is not what we can imagine yet her style is what we like very much. Taking inspirations from Her, today, we made a new experiment with our Bhajans. As a Satsang group and as a dedication to Amma, we went to a place for the differently-abled here in Milan. The home had 6 people but…

  • A childs response

23 March Yesterday we came to know that Amma’s trip to Singapore has been postponed. We were all very sad till my 7 yr old daughter put it in perspective. “She will come,” Rhea assured us. When we asked her how she knew, she replied, rather simply. “If I have a trail of my favourite marbles, I won’t leave it alone. I will go and pick it up. Just like that we’re a trail of her favourite people. Amma won’t leave us alone.” I wish I had her simple yet unshakeable faith! Sangeeta

  • Old Man Budhda

18 Mar 2010 Yesterday we stopped at Bodh Gaya on our way to Durgapur, during AMMA’s North Indian tour. I decided to visit the main temple. After reaching the temple was struck by the peace near the “bodhi” (peepal) tree where Buddha attained enlightenment. I was sitting in meditation below one of the branches of the tree hoping that I will get some enlightenment under the famous tree. Nothing happened. So disappointed, I stood up and was standing under one of the side branches, when one leaf from the tree, fell close to me. I felt refreshed and enthused by…

  • A thank you from Manila

When Amma sends her emissary, it is as though a very special messenger had come directly from her heart.  You sense her presence, her purpose, her commitment to her work, but most of all, you sense her love. A year and a half ago in August of 2008, Br. Shantamrita Chaitanya came to Manila to teach the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique, and those students have happily kept his efforts and Amma alive in their hearts.  We met weekly at a private residence (actually, my living room), week in and week out for the next 18 months. So, when he returned this…

  • Celebrating New Year with a difference

In Sydney New Years Eve is traditionally spent at parties and watching the fire works. This year Shantamrita’s visit in Sydney was on new years eve and new years day. We wondered if many people would attend as there was short notice for the tour, many people already had plans in place to be watching the fireworks and so many people are out of town at this time of year. We suggested that the tour be at another time of year when it would attract more people. Amma thought it better now so the tour went ahead. Behind the scenes…

  • The becoming of a Santa

24 Dec 2009, Kenya Is giving unconditional? Santa passed out biscuits to all the children at here in Amrita  Kenya programs. In that this was Santa’s last stop for the day there were extra biscuits left. Santa delighted in having all the children come in a cue. The youngest in age  followed by the older ones. Initially there was a lot of chaos & this reminded Santa of his early days with AMMA at Amritapuri where he was getting training to become a Santa.  At that time Santa was just an ordinary devotee who did not understand that he was…
