IAM quotes
We are at the fag end of this phase of IAM shivirs for CSIF. This morning we have finished the general group at CISF, IISCO – Burnpur. Some of the feedback forms give interesting insight into the participants mind set. I quote here a few of participants 1. ” IAM is one of the best meditation in the country & (I think). Training of IAM is very big work and useful to all the people & specially force personnel. I thank Amma.” — Md. Anjum Iqbal 2. “I have attended many meditaion classes as well as Amrita Meditation Technique. In…

Switching Roles
Alert, ever moving eyes waiting to spot danger, breath short and rapid, body poised and ready to destroy the enemy – Indrawn eyes, slow gentle breaths, body relaxed. The former state during duty and the latter during meditation. The CISF jawans from Mumbai Airport who were undergoing IAM Tech training showed amazing versatility in switching roles. It was an inspiring sight to see them immersed in meditation. In fact many of them took to it like ducks to water. Brahmacharis Avyayamritaji, (Dr.) Sundar and myself conducted the sessions with able assistance from Mumbai AYUDH members Abhilash and Vivek. Around 90…

Burning with IAM
Meditation in the deserts We (Br. Amarnath, Mr. Jhingan of Delhi and I) were welcomed by the second-in-command of the Gujarat Frontier Headquarters of BSF when we arrived at Gandhi Nagar. While speaking to him, I asked him if he had heard of Amma. He said yes. “She’s known as the ‘hugging saint,’ right?” He was also aware of Amma’s humanitarian efforts. When I asked him whether he had had darshan of Amma, he said “I’m looking forward to that good day”. “As we are with the security forces, it’s very difficult for us to get time off whenever we…

IAM in Kupwara
From BSF Baramulla, it took us about 2 hours to reach Kupwara on 22nd June, 2007. The IAM sessions were scheduled from 23rd June 2007 to 25th June 2007. It was quite scenic on the way – large green paddy fields surrounded by mountains, streams of small river, flowing parallel to the road, horse-carts carrying passengers etc. But all this seemed so peaceful only because our Army and Paramilitary forces are maintaining a vigil round the clock to maintain order in this disturbed state of India. As we began to reach the SHQ at Kupwara, the road started getting steep,…

IAM in Baramulla BSF
On 18th June 2007, we started for Baramulla in a BSF convoy under tight security and reached Baramulla BSF SHQ, Singpura, in around 3-4 hours. On the way, we saw army trying to toe a burnt passenger bus to the roadside. We were told that some people had burnt the bus after a child had come under it. As we reached near the Baramulla SHQ, the road became hilly, rough and windy. Both sides were laid with apple trees. Few hundred meters before the BSF SHQ, we passed a legendary Sikh Gurudwara. A day before staring our return journey from…

IAM in BSF SriNagar
After getting down from train in Jammu on 13th June 2007, we started for BSF Sector Headquarter – Srinagar in a BSF convoy on 14th Morning. The Officers and Jawans at BSF RTO office as well as in the Transit camp were very kind to us. Especially the Mess Commander Mr. S.K. Ghosh, who originally hailed from Calcutta, took very good care of us. We started for BSF Sector Headquarter – Srinagar in a BSF convoy on 14th Morning. In the evening, we met a vibrant officer, Assistant Commandant, K.S. Gulia, who was posted in Bandipura. We discussed various spiritual…

beyond the borders of mind
From the borders of the country –beyond the borders of the mind – IAM Aum Amriteswaryai NamahWe are in Amritsar now. The city that is most holy to the Sikhs for it has the Golden temple – the Harmandir Sahib, in which the original copy of the Guru Granth Sahib is housed. The response in all the classes has been phenomenal. There have been wonderful reports from our groups. Stories of how scepticism has changed to belief, how an aloofness has changed to warmth and friendship. I shall try to gather some titbits for all of you and post it some…

in the foot steps of Shankaracharya
In our free time we visited the famous Bahu Fort and the temple inside the Fort, while at Jammu.BSF Jawans from 4 Batallions attended the IAM Sessions from 19th June 2007 to 21st June 2007, at BSF Sector Headquarter in Srinagar and it was very well received. All the officers as well as Jawans participated whole-heartedly in these sessions. They also told us that they felt very calm and composed after doing IAM. Military Meditation
I am writing from Dera Baba Nanak, in Punjab, on the Indo-Pak border. The name of the place means the home of Baba Nanak. This was where he spent his last years, living life as an ordinary farmer. Guru Nanak was the founder saint of Sikhism. Though he himself did not propound it as a separate religion, in later days it assumed a distinctive character of its own. But many still think of it as coming under the wider ambit of Hinduism. This is also the first of the BSF (Border Security Force) camps that we have covered. Actually we…
