Nice Bhajans
8 Sep 2008, Amritapuri Tonight’s bhajans were really heartfelt especially when Amma was singing the older songs like Kalina Kanan, which always seems to take her away into realms of bliss. I’ve always liked Maheshwari Rajajeshwari, which Amma does not sing so often these days. A very special set of songs tonight: Hare Kesava Govinda Devi Bhagavati Shantipurne Anbin Vativam Amma Varumo Iniyum Maheshwari Rajeshwari Kalina Kanan Om Namah Shivaya Jai Ma Ambe Amrita-TV has been filming the bhajans for the past two nights. Br Nijamrita and Dr Rammohan and myself went to meet the District Magistrate Mr Sridhar to discuss various issues regarding setting up a long term temporary shelters and to finalize the place for it. During the meeting he also suggested various relief camps which were very much in need of medical services. One of them was the Janata colony better known as the Aam Bagh camp because it is located in a mango grove. 7 Sep 2008, Bihar The second day of camps. We went to Banmankhi – opposite in direction to Bhawanipur where we went yesterday. It was a camp of ramshackle huts – made of bamboo and plastic in most part. Again the same scenes of poverty and lack. When we reached there and were setting up a sort of enclosure for our doctors a few of the local people came over to talk. Maybe the colour of our clothes held some special meaning for them. 04/09/06 Amritapuri I was standing behind Mother on a darshan day when She started talking to Brahmachari Nijamrita about Bihar and the flooding that was causing Hundreds of thousands of people to be displaced from their homes. I had heard about it on TV and in the newspapers, so I was eager to see how Mother would react to the disaster. Amma & elephants
6 Sep 2008, Amritapuri Amma has been feeding both elephants in front of her house last Mon, Tue and Friday after Bhajans. Such a sight.. how they stand in front of the hut, and all the trees there. I watched from above, front of my room, how Amma interacted with them. So beautiful. They both behave so well now. When Amma comes they bow and trumpet Om namah Shivaya in unison, and also when she leaves. A touching scene of how Amma is the manifestation of the shakti of nature herself. Blessed Ram and Lakshmi
It was evening on Tuesday (02/09/2008) when Amma fed Ram and Lakshmi, the blessed elephants of the ashram. As the naughty Ram gets the first chance to be served by Amma, he feels joyous and doesn’t let the food slip from Amma’s hands. When Amma playfully rotates the sweets in Her hands, we can feel how equally Ram is playful in moving his trunk around Amma’s hands to get his share.
