Bangalore On Track
14 Feb 2008, Bangalore Some people say that the people in Bangalore are quickly losing their traditions due to fast modernization and western influence but watching the locals interact with Amma yesterday convinced me that at least they have not lost their devotion and love. Amma reached bangalore early in the morning so not everyone had a chance to her then so they had been waiting all day to get a glimpse of her. In the evening Amma was recording some new Kannada songs and when she came out of the room she saw everyone gathered downstairs calling for her…

On The Way to Bangalore
13 Feb 2008 The Thalassery program was over and it was time to get on the busses and head towards Bangalore. It was raining most of the time so there was some doubt as to whether Amma would stop with us, but when night fell the caravan of busses came to a halt and everybody ran outside. Amma’s camper was parked and everyone gathered outside waiting for her to come out. When Amma came out she was a bit concerned since we had stopped next to cultivated fields and she did not want everyone rampaging through the field crushing everything…

encounter with elephants
13 feb, enroute Talassery to bangalore, Bharata yatra 2008 after kannur, we all stayed in talassery for another 2 days. the brahmasthanam ground is so small to hold the crowd thats coming for amma’s program. one could see many old faces coming for amma’s darshan. they have been coming to amma for the last two decades. the love and faith of north keralites is very special. all these innocent ones holds amma in their hearts. the travel to bangalore started in the afternoon. we drove through the Western ghats, said bye bye to kerala’s green lush landscapes and people. the…

What to do
What to do when Amma is gone…..The boys have returned to the stage, and the girls to the Temple for morning Archana and evening bhajans. The Arati bells have resumed their nightly chiming. Amma is physically away from Amritapuri and won’t be back until mid-April. The Ashram is very empty now. Almost all the Brahmacharis and Brahmahcarinis have gone with Amma on the North Indian Tour, as have most International visitors. Some have remained behind for any number of reasons. And there are always one or two dozen tourists who come by boat and spend the night. With no Devi Bhava webcasts…

Program in Kannur
8 Feb, Kannur, Bharata yatra 2008 Last night we arrived at the Talassery Amrita Vidyalayam which will be our accommodation for both the public and the Brahmasthanam programs. I’ve always liked the northern parts of Kerala for retaining a great deal of tradition, Kannur especially, so the bus ride was an enjoyment rather than tiring. I especially like the traditional Keralan houses and architecture and wonder why people decided to abandon that type of dwellings for modern concrete boxes that are mostly so uninspiring. I guess the reasons are economic. The program is being held at the Kannur stadium and…

whose house?
6 feb 2008, amritapuri she came through the window. i was wondering why she is coming to the brahmacharis quarters. how dare she? she had few strands of fibre in her hand. she looked at me and smiled- a kind of an awkard smile. her eyes looked like asking me permission ‘can i come in?’. but she did not wait for any answer. jumped on to the cupboard and then to the shelf and disappeared behind the stuff that was there. aha! there she is making her home. oh ho… is she going to deliver babies and bring them up…
