The whole ashram is getting ready to receive the Honorable President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalaam. He will meet with Amma tomorrow, inaugurate the new bridge and hopefully give a speech. Even in the bhajan hall there are some changes made to facilitate his coming and many security personnel are already posted. see the program here — http://www.amritapuri.org/news/12/612pgm.php Everybody seems happy and excited that this great man is paying Amma and the Ashram a visit once again. 20 minutes for a joke
I went for darshan on Wednesday and Amma looked at me and said,‘You really look like a boy from Pune. you have the same face, lips and all the features are similar.’ I looked around at all my brother brahmacharis standing near Amma. All were perplexed trying to figure out who was this boy she was talking about? Only after 20 minutes I realized who he was. It was me!I had just cut my long hair the other day and it has drastically changed my appearance. Apparently Amma was joking about me. It took me a while to realize it.…

New Punjabi Song
Tonight Amma sang: Gopala Nacho NachoUlakattinadharaSwarloka Vatsalya DharaJaya Jaya Bhaya BhanjiniKodanu KotiMata Rani Ne Kripa Barsayi (Punjabi)Mauna GhanamritamOm Namah ShivayaAmma Amma Taye The new Punjabi song Mata Rani Ne Kripa Barsayi (Divine Mother has showered Her grace) is a really nice one – very upbeat and with a great melody. Amma kept repeating the refrain at the end for a very long time. She seemed to really enjoy the new song. I think it will be the “hit” of the season. Vishwanath15 Dec 2006

Devi Saranam
Amma gave darshan today to both the public and all the ashram residents, but when She came for bhajans She looked as radiant and fresh as ever. The songs were vigorous and full of shakti. At one point the little girl Sita wondered on to the stage again and stood in front of Swamiji staring at him and trying to snatch his bhajan books to herself. Everybody was laughing at the funny little imp, but she didn’t mind at all. She seems to be totally unselfconscious. Tonight’s bhajans were: Govardhanadhara Gokula NandanaAzhikullil Dinakaran MarannyuDevi Saranam, Saranam AmmeKarunamayi Devi (Kannada)Chetuletti VetukonedaNamah Shivaya OmSarvavyapiyaiJai…

Essence Of The Scriptures
Tonight’s bhajans started a bit later than usual but lasted also longer. Amma sang the following bhajans: Krishna Vasudeva HareKaruna Nir Katale NinAgamanta PoruleMangu Men TujhseEnnile Enne TirinnyuOm Namah ShivayaPahi Pahi DeviNilaiyilla UlakilJago Ma Kali Especially the song Agamanta Porule struck a chord inside me tonight. It is such a profound song. Not only the lyrics but also the bhava is so intense that something just happens within. I was gazing at Mother thinking to myself how many people around the world study their scriptures daily trying to find solace in them, but here indeed is sitting amongst us the…

Amma’s Babies
This afternoon, a young Indian couple came up to Amma for Darshan holding their new-born twins. They wanted to Amma to give them names. These babies (a boy and a girl) weren’t just any newborns. They were representative of the immense love and compassion that Amma has blessed the tsunami-affected people of India and Sri Lanka. Sreejit and Liji had lost both their young children in the tsunami and could not re-conceive because Liji had had her tubes tied. Amma offered Liji the opportunity to have the surgery reversed, and to pay for all the costs, including seeing her through…
