consoling his mother
Today in the temple while i was stage monitorinng, a woman was holding her three year old infant while coming before Amma for her darshan. The woman began to cry and so unexpectedly her little boy (who was still so tiny may be two years old?) began to caress his mothers cheek and pat her shoulder so gently. Amma and those devotees on stage were all amazed at witnessing this tiny boy lovingly caress his mother’s shoulder and face. He helped her overcome her grief. Amma joyfully laughed in surprise at such a sight to see this small child consoling…

Stealing the Show
It was Akhilesh who stole the whole show last night. For more than 90 minutes he was talking to Amma non-stop! That too while Amma was giving darshan. Akhilesh is from Pune. He is four years old. He speaks only Marati. He was telling Amma so many things that no one could understand. First of all it was in Marati, which most of do not know. And even if we did understand Marati, a child’s world is often inexplicable. His interactions with Amma were so sweet. All through the darshan, he was next to Amma’s chair. When some devotees came…

Jai Jetlag
One of the good things about the 10 and a half hour time difference between New York and Amritapuri is that this usually late riser has been able to naturally get out of bed with the first ashram bell at 3:50 a.m. and enjoy the peace of brahmamuhurta here in Amma’s main ashram. As I walk across the early morning grounds the Indian ladies float like apparitions in white, as they sweep the sand into crescent patterns that resemble Amma’s closed eyelids as She meditates. I sit in the kalari, where the only light comes from the lamps and sacrificial…

Innocent yet concentrated
Last night Amma came to bhajans with one the old residents of the ashram in Her arms. A lady that has in her old age become as innocent as a child again, and that is exactly how Amma interacts with her. There was also a lot of children sitting on the stage. One kid was kicking me in the knee all the time and asking how many more songs to go. I think he was restless to go and play with his friends. That´s the way children are. I think sometimes our mind is like that also – so restless…

After the play, i had a chance to speak to a few of those children************Gayamrita, 4 years, Italy Were you here on Xmas eve?Yes I was. Did you participate in the kids’ programs?Yes, and I was so happy! Why?… I don’t really know, but I was sooo happy! Getting packed
Been keeping quite busy again with the International accomodation. It seems that many people who met Amma on Her European tour this year have decided to come and see Her here at Amritapuri this christman season. By Amma’s grace we’ve somehow managed to find space for everyone. Everyday it looks like there just is no more room left. Then something happens and there is just enough to take in all new arrivals. It’s really a miracle but Amma of course insists and sees to it that no-one is turned away.Today Amma was giving darshan right through the bhajans so Amritatmananda…

delighted faces
Today was meditation day. I have had a bad sorethroat and flu for the last two days and have been too weak to leave my bed. But this morning after sleeping late until 9am, I was determined to see Amma after my two day absence. I went down to the meditation hall, feeling very hot and feverish. As I sat there in a daze, the other people meditating around me gave a restful vibration to the room. Mother came out and even though I was being sat on and leaned on by the other women, I relaxed and enjoyed listening…
