BaBel: Towards a Re-enchantment
I’ve been coming to Amma’s French center for several years. Time after time, I’ve received more and more, and at some point I felt time had come to give back in some way. There were several of us in that case. Mathieu, Virginie and Sudha were also looking for a way to bring out Amma’s inspiring message in their lives. Ayudh’s youth retreats in Germany turned out to be so rich and joyful that we felt we also had to initiate something on our side, in France. We’re growing in a world that’s craving for help. Cut off from Nature,…

Planting trees in Bay area
This past week over 200 devotees and Bay Area environmentalists of all ages planted nearly 700 trees and shrubs on the hillsides of the M.A. Center. While we planted, we could hear bhajans ringing out from the temple as Amma gave darshan. It was such a sweet way to come together in service and all who participated were filled with joy and deeply moved. Amma says, “The biggest threat to mankind is the loss of nature’s harmony and our widening separation from her.” It was truly inspiring to see so many of Amma’s children taking action to restore this harmony…

Seeds of Change
Eighty bags filled with rich soil and vegetable seeds currently line the cement wall inside Amrita Vidyalayam, an elementary and secondary learning institution created by Mata Amritanandamayi in Kerala, India. Although somewhat simple in appearance, these bags are the product of collectively eighty hours of passionate finding, folding, lifting, mixing, filling, planning, transporting and most importantly, Divine Grace. The process began on August 19, 2008 when eighteen individuals, aged 18-30, set out on an ecological mission: to introduce organic farming techniques to schoolchildren and in doing so, help mitigate the detrimental effects of global warming. This diverse and dedicated group,…

Communicating with Dolphins
Communicating with Dolphins at Amma’s Beach! Two days ago, chatting with a friend here at Amritapuri, we shared some nice memories of seeing dolphins in the ocean, from Amma’s beach (just 2 minutes walk from the ashram, by the Ayurveda Research Center). My friend said that once someone was sad and complaining that the dolphins never came for her to see them. She was then told, that they would surely come when we call them with a pure and sincere heart. They feel such vibrations and will definitely answer the call. If they hadn’t come to her yet, it was…

The Nobility of Motherhood!
Shyama, Amrita-krishna and Lakshmi now have another friend to play with, Sharan. Sharan is a newborn calf. He is a black beauty with white spots around his ankles and across his forehead. He was born this morning, at about 1 a.m. Yesterday evening, Lakshman who works in the cowshed told me that a pregnant cow would give birth soon. “How do you know?” I asked. All the signs are there, he said. He took me to the cowshed. I couldn’t believe what I saw. The cow’s udder was dripping with milk. The cow was already anticipating the birth of its…
