Mother I Need You
The hall was very crowded. Amma gave darshan at a faster pace than on other days. Towards the end of darshan, someone brought up an Edison Amberol Phonograph (c. 1900) – one of the earliest phonographs made. It plays music that has been recorded on wax cylinders. Amma was quite intrigued by this and listened intently to the music while it was played. All this happened during Ayi Giri Nandini so we couldn’t hear what was going on. Sweet as ever
4 June 2009 Thursday’s programs were as sweet as ever. The crowds are starting to get larger as the week progresses. The weather is still cooler than usual. In the 70s during the day, and cool/crisp at night. In past years, there have been days when the temperature has reached over 100. 4 Jun 2009, San Ramon, CA On Tuesday, Amma held a special program from 11am until 8pm on which was supposed to be a day off. It was an unusually quiet day in that many devotees who were coming from out of town had not yet arrived. Started the camp
Bengal Cylone Releif 2009 31st May 2009, Naginabad Village The first patient arrived at 5AM and we had to gently convey to him that the clinic would not open until 8AM as everything had to be set up. We soon organized the store, the kitchen and the clinic along with the pharmacy. It took more time per patient than it would have normally taken as we needed to use an interpreter between the doctor and the patient, as the local knew no other language leaving Bengali.
