  • Mother make me Lose to you

Mother make me Lose to you, For That would be my Victory, What would be my Triumph If I have not surrendered to you? I still remember when I First met you, Though you have known me since long, How could I forget the twinkle In your eyes When u held me close and said, “Mol Padikenam” In the midst of darkness at night All that gives strength is the faith of your presence O Compassionate mother, Be with us For we do not know what is right, Fallen into deep crevices of despair We cannot get up try as…

  • Swimming with Amma

17 May 2009, Amritapuri Yesterday was a festival. Amma’s US tour starts in a two days and Amma had called all to the swimming pool. She had just finished days of continuous Darshan spending time day and night to talk, console and uplift her many children. Amma’s Darshan is so special for the Ashramites and those of the last days more special as none  would get a chance so special otherwise. It had been just Amma and the person. So after all those days of continuous room Darshan, when one hears Amma is calling us out to swimming, excitement broke…

  • Last Bhajans of the Season

Tonight’s bhajans were most likely the last of the season as Amma will be departing for her next tour tomorrow. And what a treat those bhajans were. Amma came half an hour earlier than usual and caught most people by surprise. After she had seated herself people were still pouring into the hall from all sides. The songs were: Jai Ganesha Jai Ekadanta Krishna Govinda Gopala Ram Hari Oru Nalum Piriyatto Raga Vairikal Saka Varamarulvay Rama Amma Tan Matitil Kannande Marile Vedanta Venalilute On Namah Shivaya Ma Jai Jagadambe Amma asked Brahmachari Shivan to sing the song Amma Tan Matiyil…

  • Tell me, what shall I do?

Suddenly around midnight Amma surprised everyone by coming out to swim! The usual fun and games followed: Amma pushing everyone into the pool, coming up with funny stories, singing bhajans etc. Earlier Amma came for bhajans in between receiving ashramites in her room. She sang the following bhajans: Dayakaro Tum Hi Viraha Ki Badal Vedambike Parihasa Patramayi Japu Me Sada Santamayi Ozhukatte Ennute Jivita nouka Om Namah Shivaya Amma Amma Taye During the song Ennute Jivita the air was filled with devotion. The lyrics are very touching: O Mother, my boat is sinking here in the ocean of this world…

  • Amma knows

This happened long back during my School days. I used to compel my friends to come along to meet Amma. Still those memories of, travelling in the boat and reaching ashram and feeling some inner joy, waiting to see her in the hall, not knowing  for what and why? Anyway this is about one of my friend who was doubtful whether Amma really knows everything? How can that ever be possible? Even though he beleived in Spiderman,Superman and all and believed in thier powers and thier existance(?) no ‘human’ can be all knowing,he believed. He purchased a bracelet of red-sandalwood beeds…

  • Seva on Queens day

30 April 2009 AYUDH Netherlands decided to raise funds for the Vidyamrita scholarship programme. The Dutch youth felt personally very drawn to this cause. On Queensday the Dutch celebrate the birthday of queen with a flea market, music, games and shows. On this day everyone is allowed to put stalls outside and sell their (old) stuff, offer games to the public, play music or have parties in the streets. The whole city is decorated in orange on…

  • Older Bhajans

13 may 2009 For the past week Amma has been receiving the ashram residents in her room for a yearly private darshan where they can ask her question related to their spiritual life or whatever might weigh on their mind. This is no small task and means that Amma will sit from morning until early morning busy with the concerns of her ashram children. Despite this schedule Amma found time to come for bhajans tonight. She came up on stage radiating with a beaming smile and sang some older songs. Very inspiring and sweet. The songs she sang were: Nanda…

  • Lalita Sahasranam Formula

When I met Amma in September 1996 I did not have any income for two years! I never told Amma about my problem, just came to receive Her blessings. And my problem of income was solved as I chanted Lalita daily. Somewhere in 2003 I wrote in an article published in Matruvani about Amma’s formula of daily chanting Sri Lalita Sahasranama (1000 names of Devi)  with devotion and faith. Amma’s famous quotation on this is printed on the back cover of Lalita Sahasranama book. “Whoever chants Lalita Sahasranama daily with faith and devotion, Devi takes care of all his/her material…
