Devi Bhava, can it be true?
Today it’s finally happening after a long time – the first Devi Bhava in Amritapuri since 20 months! Many probably already thought that it Amma will not give anymore Devi Bhava darshan in India, so it came as a pleasant surprise when Amma announced that there would be one this Sunday. Many people booked flights from all over the country after hearing the news. I wonder how many will call work tomorrow and say they will not be able to make it? That’s how irresistible Amma’s pull is. Like the Krishna Lila happening all over again.Amma first came out in…

New and old
Amma arrived fairly early for bhajans tonight and sang a fairly long and somewhat surprising set of bhajans. She looked very fresh and happy as She walked onto the stage. I like watching Amma arrive for bhajans because for once there are very few people surrounding Her. She can move freely without being surrounded from every side. I remember how many years ago Amma could move freely like that all over the ashram. But of course things naturally change over time and everything is under Amma’s control. Amma’s pull is just irresistible. There were some classics and new songs in…

Remote control for the mind
Tonight Amma sang mostly older songs with a couple of new ones. The little children behind Amma were a bit unruly and at one point Amma turned around and asked them if they were singing along. They nodded happily, “yes, yes, Amma,” and the next moment they were all going wild again. At first I was a bit irritated at the commotion but then I thought to myself, “I maybe manage to look fairly dignified, but have I controlled my mind or is it still like a restless child? Is my mind under my command and can I lay it down…

Peaceful Monday
It was a quiet Monday in Amritapuri today, as it usually is after Amma’s long Sunday darshan. Tonight’s bhajans were really nice with a lot of old songs and a few nice new ones like Mohalu Camppara Gauri Ramana, which I find very nice. The song list tonight was as follows: Nandakumara VanditarupaIni Oru JanmamUshkala NeramTiruvati Tedi Vanten (Tamil)Oru Kochu PulnambinOm Namah ShivayaManare (Tamil)Mohalu Camppara Gauri Ramana (Telugu)Pukare Maiyya (Hindi) Lyrics to the new Telugu song: Mohalu Camppara Gauri RamanaManasuna Nimppara Ni Smarana Oh Gauri Ramana (Shiva), Kill all my desires and fill my mind with memories of You. The Creation of Amritapuri.org
The month of April marks two special anniversaries for all of Amritapuri.org’s dedicated fans. It was on Vishu Day of the year 2000 (15th April) that your favorite website was launched. Two weeks earlier, the first issue of Amritavani, E-newsletter was emailed to addresses that had been collected from previous e-mails. It was during a lunch stop with Mother during North India Tour 2000 (February-March) that Dhyanamrita came to find me with a biggest smile on his face and proudly announced: “Cheerful!” I smiled back and thought he was referring to that precious quality that spiritual aspirants should maintain. “Cheerful…”…
