  • Shopkeeper near Amrita Setu

I did not know Amma before coming here. I came here seven years back. My only source of income is a shop that was setup after I came here. I would say that every day since then is an experience by itself in this sacred land. I feel that only people with the real seed of spirituality can come to this place, no amount of advertisements or any other external force can bring this much amount of people to the place. It is my good fortune that has brought me to Amma. There seems to be a power that guides…

  • A miracle of prayer

Namah shivaya I  wanted to share with you all an interesting conversation I had with one of our First year ECE students this evening. His name is Anand. Some of you may be able to relate to it. I have heard innumerable such stories over the past 17 years since meeting Amma, but coming from our own student, related in such an innocent style, I had to share this with you. I was walking along the  grounds under the huge pandal this evening, when this boy came up to me.  He wanted to know where the food serving counters are…

  • Thirst Quenched

It was barely a year and a half since I first met Amma but it seemed as though I knew her for ages. I was blessed to be with Amma at Bangalore. It was a great pleasure for us, the students of Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore to volunteer for Amma’s darshan programme and since this was my first seva at the ashram I was naturally excited. I chose crowd controlling near the stage with a desire to be near Amma for the rest of the two days. By the end of the day our lecturers announced that our turn…

  • Amma knows

This happened long back during my School days. I used to compel my friends to come along to meet Amma. Still those memories of, travelling in the boat and reaching ashram and feeling some inner joy, waiting to see her in the hall, not knowing  for what and why? Anyway this is about one of my friend who was doubtful whether Amma really knows everything? How can that ever be possible? Even though he beleived in Spiderman,Superman and all and believed in thier powers and thier existance(?) no ‘human’ can be all knowing,he believed. He purchased a bracelet of red-sandalwood beeds…

  • Deepak Na Janu!

I visited Bankura, an old town and district HQ in West Bengal to hold an IAM camp. There was a lady among two volunteers who were to be trained in the asanas on the previous night before the camp was to start. This lady gave a very startling experience, another miracle of Amma. According to her narration, “Dada, when you and Durgapur brahmacharinis and brahmacharis came here to hold a satsang you sang a few Bengali bhajans. At our request you left a printout of a few Bengali songs that you were carrying with you. After you left, I was…

  • Amma Sheds Tears

On 29th me and my wife returned to Amritapuri after conducting month long IAM® Shivirs and Satsangs in West Bengal. By evening I got a desperate phone call from one of Amma’s darling daughters from a small town of W.B. In her own words, “ Uncle you had given me 3 photos of Amma out of which one is a very compassionate picture. The other day I felt that in that photo Amma’s eyes were filled with tears! First I thought it was an illusion. But I observed closely, Her eyes were certainly looking like filled with tears. Next day…

  • How Amma came to Mumbai in 2009

Every year Amma tops off Her South India tour with the North India tour. Traveling in several buses, She and Her children cut across the great Gangetic plains for nearly two months, giving darshan.  Enroute she passes through the city of Mumbai and every year thousands wait for Her arrival. Before She comes, Swami Amritaswarupanandji does a program but this year he did not turn up at the expected time. Instead, he went to the Middle East. That is when the rumblings began : Amma is not coming. Then Avyayamritji, Swami of Mumbai Ashram, traveled to see Amma.  Everybody hoped…

  • Children All Over Amma

25 Mar 2009, Bangalore That was a solemn Shani puja evening in Bangalore. Amma was giving Satsang prior to Puja instructions. The translator was translating, and Amma, having nothing to do, started throwing Her enchanting love glances at the little children in the audience. The front-ramp was tightly occupied by little children and young students of Amrita institutions. Behind them in the huge open-air auditorium, there were rows of chairs for those doing puja. Amma’s love glance first fell on the little kids right under Her nose. Amma signalled one of them to come up to Her. With him rose…

  • Did Amma Speak Bulgarian?

I am sure lately more people, especially children, have heard about Bulgaria, particularly thanks to the Harry Potter series. But in general this small European country is not known to many. Having been with Amma for more than ten years, I am pleasantly surprised when I find some of my fellow countrymen in her international family; there are not many. Therefore, for years, when I was asked the language question by Amma’s assistants during darshan, I always replied: “English will be fine”, as I didn’t expect Amma to speak Bulgarian. And I was enjoying her loving words, “My darling daughter”…
