Amma Sheds Tears

On 29th me and my wife returned to Amritapuri after conducting month long IAM® Shivirs and Satsangs in West Bengal.

By evening I got a desperate phone call from one of Amma’s darling daughters from a small town of W.B. In her own words, “ Uncle you had given me 3 photos of Amma out of which one is a very compassionate picture. The other day I felt that in that photo Amma’s eyes were filled with tears! First I thought it was an illusion. But I observed closely, Her eyes were certainly looking like filled with tears. Next day I found tear drops below Her eyes. I wiped them clean but I am worried why should Amma cry in my house even though I have been keeping Her photos with great love and care. Please ask Amma and let me know the reason. I am really feeling sad and worried.”

Next day I went for Amma’s darshan having been away from Her for 2 months. After my hug I narrated this event to Amma. Amma gave a sweet smile and said, “Tell her not to worry!”

I conveyed this message to the young lady and she was very happy hearing Amma’s reply.

What did Amma mean?

I was discussing the matter with a brahmachari who I had told earlier about this young lady. His explanation seemed to be logical. He said, “This daughter has a lot of yearning to meet Amma in Amritapuri but there is no one to bring her here. Others at home are not that interested in Amma. So, Amma gave her this experience to enhance her faith letting her know that Amma is always with her and she should not feel left out!”

I would also like to share with the readers that this lady phoned me a couple of months ago and said happily, “Uncle, Amma is not a woman, She is none other than Krishna. That’s why She has been playing all this mischief with me!”

That’s but natural, I thought. Her birthplace is Krishnanagar, very close to Mayapur, the birthplace of Mahaprabhu Sri Chaitanya. Influence of Sri Krishna in all these adjacent districts is unmistakable.

  3. It’s all Amma’s Leela…. just experience it. Thanks for posting this wonderful experience.
    Amma Sharanam.

  4. I had a similar experience. I was looking forward to Satsang with Amma’s Swami in my home town. However I decided I was too afraid to go. The day before the Satsang I noticed tears running all the way down Amma’s beautiful face in the photo of Amma on my shrine! I immediately thought ‘Amma is sad because I will miss the Satsang’. I thought about it logically for the first time and decided fear was not a good reason to stay away. Amma never leaves us. She feels our pain and longing and will always be there to love, comfort and protect us.

  5. I would like to share one experience with you all. I went to do Amma’s meditation and my eyes fell on the most beautiful picture of amma. It was so beautiful, amma was dressed as devi. This picture reminded of a dream i had where devi blessed me. Everytime i used to meditate, I look at amma’s picture and feel that devi is truly residing in my home.
December 2008, I sat for meditation suddenly i felt something, a light, i opened my eyes and i screamed as i saw amma’s picture was on fire. Without thinking i took amma’s picture and put the fire out and I cried and cried. I couldnt understand why this happend. Picture didnt burn fully. I made sense that it caught on fire from the diya i lit for amma.

  6. when Amma came to Thrissur,i was so intent on going for darsan. But none at home supports my Ammacraze, and i had to face dire criticism… in a moment of sheer grief, gazing at Her picture, i thought, “if She wants me to see Her, She will definitely find a way”… finally after waging a world war at home, i could go hug my Amma…The path to Bliss is rough, but once u r there, there are no regrets… 😀

  7. Amma is always with us. Thank you so much for posting the experience. It is important to have Ammas picture in many places in our home and to treat them with great care..as if it were Amma herself. Again I am reminded of how blessed some of us are that we have the opportunity to see Amma twice a year. Those of us who have the opportunity to travel with Amma are doubly blessed and should take every step necessary to bring that opportunity to reality.

  8. Yes it is true amma is with everyone. Even though i visited amritapuri so many times i want to see amma again. Is this experience possible for me to see amma through photo?

  9. I am so happy to hear of this experience. I have sometimes thought the photo is crying. Undoubtedly she talks, calls out, alerts me and giggles and laughs through her photos – many, many times.

  10. “Yes” it is true amma is with everyone whoever had her hug. I would like to say only one word just “surrender” yourself to her. Thank u Bimalji
