Bhajans
Before Bhajans, instead of satsang, Amma held a question and answer session. One person asked “What is Amma’s core message for the young parents with children and for all the teachers I see gathered here?” Amma’s response: “One word – Compassion”. Amma continued to sing many new bhajans from the 2007 supplement, but also included a few older ones. He Gananayaka Sidivinayaka (2007 Supplement) Sri Krishna Sharanam Mama Prematapassu (Tapas of Love) (2007 Supplement) Om Sakti Om Sakti (2007 Supplement) Man Re Om Namah Sivayah Meri Vich Ram Awaken Children (2007 Supplement) Jai Ma Ambe Sri Pati San Ramon, 7…

Bhajana 2007 Supplement
One of the hottest items being sold at the bookstore this year is the 2007 Bhajan Supplement. Practically every bhajan Amma has sung so far on the US Tour has been found in here. In fact, during the first night in San Ramon, every song (except for Om Namah Sivayah) came from the 2007 Supplement. Almost twice as large at the 2006 supplement, it is filled with 53 bhajans, including Mata Rani and Awaken Children (written about on Amritapuri.org). Tonight, Amma sang the following Sankar Sut Ho Tum (Hindi) Manas Chora Radha Krishna (Hindi) Satyaslesam (Tamil) Mata Rani (Punjabi) Omkara…

Amma Amma!!!!
At the end of Devi Bhava, after the curtains came to a close, and everyone sat in reverential silence, having chanted the closing prayers, we waited for Amma’s reappearance – our one last glimpse of Her before She would leave the hall for the next city. But it wasn’t true silence. From within the Temple, we could hear chants of ‘Amma Amma Amma!’ sounding as if it was coming out of some small speaker. Many people were puzzled and wondered what was going on. It actually was Amma’s children in Amritapuri shouting back to Her over a web cam that…

Morning Archana
Morning Archana This morning, during Devi Bhava, at around 5:30am as darshan neared the end, Amma suddenly asked all the Tour Staff to come to the hall and join in chanting the 1000 names of the Divine Mother. Swami Amritaswarupananda first started with Amma’s 108 names. As each name was called out, everyone responded with ‘Aum Amriteshwariyai Namah. Next came the 1000 names – everyone responding with ‘Aum Parashaktyai Namah’. Swami finished by singing Ayi Giri Nandini. It was the first time to everyone’s knowledge that a full archana had been done on tour in the US. In Amritapuri, Archana…

Mata Rani Ki Jai!
Mata Rani Ki Jai! One of the questions on many people’s mind during the Seattle programs was whether Amma would sing ‘Mata Rani’. Most everyone had heard about how Amma had been singing this new upbeat Punjabi song in India – especially during the end of the Brahmastanam Temple Festivals. Anticipation was high and palpable in the air. When would we hear this new bhajan? Our first introduction to Mata Rani came during bhajans on the first night of the Retreat. It was the fourth bhajan in the set. During the bhajan, Amma would occasionally lift Her hands up in…

Sweet Memories
Aum Amriteswaryai Namaha Namah Shivaya All, Its been a very long time since I posted on this site. Now Amma is in Japan and will be away from Amritapuri for 2 months and a week. Pretty long. But anyway nowadays we get to see Amma via the webcast, we get e-Darshan 🙂 . Coming back to the post, I had quite a bit to write about on my experiences on the tour and how Amma brought out situations to teach a few lessons. On the south indian tour, I had to go to trichy programme earlier to help in organizing…

Sweet Reminisces
With searing average temperatures of 40 deg celcius, in the midst of a dry, rainless spell, Palakkad wasn’t exactly the coolest place to be in this time of the year. The only reason, it happened to be THE place to be, or, if you would pardon the pun, the ‘hottest’ place to visit – that our Mother, Amma was there in all Her splendour. After securing a much coveted darshan token, i made my way to Amma at about 10.45 pm, hoping as always for a ‘special’ darshan – a longer look, a ‘made-just-for-me’ smile, an infintely long hug (well,…

when god is at your doorstep
you worship her every day in the puja room as devi, as the divine mother. one day she may pass your house… how would you feel? how will you react? what will you do? could such a thing happen? yes. it happened in kochi. amma was going for a house call. i was in a car behind her. a devotee came to know that Amma was passing his house from the siren of the pilot car. i saw a big photo of amma on the portico. the family was waiting next to the road by the gate. the divine mother…
