shower of grace
It was the first Devi Bhava of 2007. Amma’s visit coincided with a potentially dangerous eruption of Reunion’s active volcano. There were serious concerns about acid rain caused by the sulphur emitted from the volcano’s fiery core. And while it did rain, there was no acid rain during Amma’s visit. Thus it seemed to some of the devotees that the Goddess had come in person to shower her blessings in the shadow of Nature’s fury. Instead of acid rain, Reunion Island received a shower of grace. A glorious chapter
Amma was rocking the stage with her song ‘mata rani’ at the end of darshan in delhi. The complete hall was dancing as amma was singing this song. Padapuja was going on at the same time. The full hall was watching amma close-up clearly on the big screen. After the puja amma stood on her feet and danced. It bought cheers and whistles from the children. It has become a new beginning to end a programme. The next day amma left for Reunion & Mauritus programmes. Devotes were lined up from amma’s room to the gate, then to the road.…

Can you hug me like She does?
‘Amma wants to hear a story, a joke’ Mother said. I saw Her swiftly looking at me and I knew the time had come to tell the Her about the funny adventure that happened during my PR seva some years ago. We were sitting under the trees, just outside Delhi. It takes only four hours to drive from Jaipur to the Delhi ashram, so no one had expected one more lunchstop with Amma on that short last leg of the North India tour. We had all rushed to sit at Her feet. As Amma started serving the plates that were…

Harvest your seva
We left Ahmedabad at nine in the morning, just two hours after Amma finished darshan. When we were on the road for a few hours one of the seven Ashram busses broke down, so the whole karavan parked along the side of the new four laned highway that leads to Jaipur. The sun was at it’s highest and the heat in the bus was building up. I stepped outside and saw that many brahmacharinis had done the same. Just next to us there was a family harvesting wheat. All morning they had cut the grain by hand, and bundeled it…

its time to wake up
right from the stage of jaipur, amma left for delhi. after entering haryana state, we stopped in a company’s compound for lunch. we had satsang and bhajan with amma. we reached delhi in the evening. amma stayed in the ashram building near the brahmasthanam temple. the ashram is small. it cannot accommodate all the members of the group. i stayed with my brothers in a farm house opposite to the ashram. most of them stayed in the amrita vidyalayam school – 5 km away. the weather is cold at night. if you pour hot water on your head, by the…

In Rajasthan with Amma
The night before we got to Jaipur we stopped at another place in Rajasthan called Rajsamand for the night. The place was an ashrama like place located on a beautiful hilltop with a view that was spectacular. From the rooftop of the building one could see the vast lake spread out below. Early in the morning Amma came out for a morning meditation in that very spot. One of those moments that stay with you for a long time. The Jaipur program was quite interesting in a few ways. The people in northern India have a tendency to express their…

beauty in the stones
it was again ‘mata rani’ at the end of darshan in Amdavad. but this time it was a gujarati version instead of punjabi. amma was dancing and then began clapping her hands along with the devotees. one devotee, who came for darshan, began dancing beautifully in-font of amma bringing delight and joy to everyone. as she was playing with the devotees, the sun spread his rays from the eastern horizon to join with amma. Amma left directly from the the stage of amdavad to jaipur. it was about 7.30 a.m. we passed the sabarmati river. entered into the national highway…

Leave no one disappointed
On the road from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Amma served us all lunch as She sat under a tree in the shade. She cracked jokes, and looked back on the 3 days of darshan in Mumbai. She stretched Her arms out and gestured embracing one after the other, at high speed. ‘Amma goes as fast as She can’ She said. If She would not go at such a high speed hundreds of people would not get darshan. People who would have been waiting for hours, who had waited all year or maybe all their lives to get a glimps of Her.…
