Better, best and beyond
Chicago, IL It just kept getting better and better…. and it’s taken this long just to write about it…. A few weeks ago, in Chicago, not only was a hole blown in the fabric of the universe, not only did Amma take us through it, but she kept us there for what appeared to be an eternity. It’s not just poetic license. It’s simply true…. At the end of Darshan on the first night of programs in Chicago, Amma sang two bhajans: Hari Narayana Jai Narayana Hari Narayana Govinda followed by Kotha Tumi Jonani. When the last round of Kali…

She only sees the love and the innocence
Over the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to witness some beautiful examples of childlike innocence in both children and adults and the way Amma is drawn to this innocence. In Chicago, on the first night of the program as Amma was about to finish darshan, little 6 year old Siddharth began singing a song on stage. He sang “Chitta Chorana” which refers to Krishna as the thief of hearts. The camera was focused closely on Amma’s face and on the big screen you could see Amma pause while giving darshan and seemingly be drawn inward as She…

Boston Retreat Question and Answer
The other day, at the end of the Question and Answer session at the Boston Area Retreat, we were all treated to a special satsang during which we were told a few stories about Rama and Sita from the Ramayana. It was sweet and innocent. Each word was filled with wisdom and introspective thought. And it was told by 5 year old Siddharth. Sitting next to Amma, Siddharth told how Rama used his arrow to split a stone that was being hurled at him by the demons. We were spellbound as to how such a young child could remember such…

Mariyamma in Manhattan
Manhattan, New York: The Manhattan Center has excellent acoustics and all the bhajans performed/played during Amma’s programs sounded very vibrant. On July 5, 2010, Amma sang the following bhajans – they were a treat for the ears: * Sri Gananayaka * Giridhar He * Muralikayiloru Ganamundo * Dayagala Ma Amma * Hariyuva Nadiya … Hara Om Siva * Kannai Imai Kappatupol * Matr Vatsalya * Ma Tere Caranam Me Amma sang the Tamil bhajan on Mariyamma “Kannai Imai Kappatupol ..….Nammai Ellam Kathiduval Mariamma…” Mariyamman is the South Indian Hindu goddess, predominant in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and…

Devi Bhava New York
Well, actually, Devi Bhava is really Tuesday. But from the size of the crowd that had come to see Amma on the first program day, it certainly felt like it was. It’s not surprising given that the program was on a Sunday which happened to be the 4th of July. The combination made for two of the biggest fireworks show in the area. Many people made a day of it – come for the Internal fireworks – ignited by Amma’s embrace – then head down the block to the Hudson River and watch an external firework show. Two hours before…
