the karma of a koorma
24 aug 2008, amritapuri
it was sri krishna’s birthday. but there were such an enthusiasm that one would feels that its one ‘s own birthday. The whole ashram was in ecstasy.
when amma came to the uriyadi grounds, there were about 400 small krishnas, radhas, gopas and gopis + the incarnations of lord vishnu. its a wonderful scene to watch the little krishnas with the ‘real krishna’ amongst them.
different groups of people took part in uriyadi. children, boys, girls….
breaking the mud pots reminds one of the leelas of sri krishna. the venue set up near the cow shed was full of people. from the top of the 18th floor to the ground … literally.
amma was clapping to the tune of ‘hare rama – hare krishna’ maha mantra sung by avadhootendra swami. this particular bhajan is usually played over the loud speakers during the pot breaking ceremony. its so ecstatic. once you hear it you will stand on your toes and start dancing. i bet you.
at the end of uriyadi amma sang bolo bolo gokula baala …it was sooooooo good. all were singing and jumping in joy, making jai jaikar.
one devotee brought a koorma – a white tortoise … to amma. it came to the field from somewhere. amma took the turtle in one hand. listening to the sound of the bhajans and seeing people, looked like its really afraid. as opposed to its natural instinct of hiding its head and arms, this one started stretching outwards!
as amma took this turtle, it stretched its neck almost like 6 inches! amma took it with the left hand (had mike in the right hand) and kissed. lol.. turtle started peeing!! amma lifted and held its head up. the peeing continued. “Oh no!” came a sigh from the thousands who watched.
a kissing and a peeing ??
what might have been the karma of the koorma to come to an avatar?
(koorma was the 2nd avatar of vishnu)
