The Dance continues…
One could say that Amma is always dancing. Her every movement is so graceful and captivating. Pondering that, is it because she is always completely relaxed? Or is it because she is always focused, always in meditation? For whatever reason, every movement evokes a delighted response from her devotees. A special treat at the Munich program was watching Amma come and go across a catwalk one story above the floor of the hall from her room to the stage. The moment she left her room, a different musical group each time, dressed in local traditional costumes began to play and…

Sanitation: Slowly changing minds
Indhpur, Himachel Pradesh is a large rural village of 7000 people, in the first hills leading from the plains towards the Himalaya Mountains. I am here to observe Amma’s Sanitation and Toilet Building Projects. This village is a mix of rich, poor, and everything in between. The narrow roads are cleaner, houses more well kept than in larger towns.I have not see any sign of malnutrition, families living in filth or temporary shelters. All in all, Indhpur is a very pleasant place. However, we estimate only 5% of homes have a toilet and there are no public toilets. So life continues…

Everything is One
26 Sep 2015, Amritapuri Mrs. Bexci P. Britto, Assistant Professor at Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, who was at the ashram for the first time, shared her experience about meeting Amma. “A few things are inexpressible in life and they go by the term “zing factor”. I had such an experience here today. It was a fulfilling experience. Amma spends hours at a stretch meeting her children, yet makes it seem like an effortless job. I have neither heard of nor seen any other god-men or god-women doing the same. Witnessing this here today directly, right in…

Heaven on Earth can be built ….only on the basis of Love
Soon after our beloved Amma’s 62nd birthday celebrations got over, we got an opportunity to interact with Swami Shailendra Saraswati, who is a disciple of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and currently teaches Transcendental Meditation. He had come here for Amritavarsham ’62 and had his first darshan from Amma. “This was my first visit to Amma. In fact, before I met Amma, something had started happening in my mind. I am a teacher of Transcendental Meditation, worked with Maharishi Mahesh yogi for about twenty years… then, I was associated with Swami Ramdevji. Last month, I was going through Amma’s website and, getting…

Amala Bharatam, Clean India: Karma has its consequences
As Indians we all dream about a clean India free of garbage. It is with this idea of creating a clean community, as an initial step towards a clean India, that the Amala Bharatam Campaign (ABC) was initiated. Mahita, who was associated with it since its incipience, spoke to us about her involvement with clearing the garbage inside and outside the ashram premises and how, with Amma’s support, a small individual step was converted into a model worthy of emulation by all. “There is no doubt in my mind that one second of my life spent in this ashram offering…

How Does She Do It?
On Monday, October 5th, in Spain, at 9 pm Amma meditated, joked, advised, gave some hundreds of people Prasad dinner and danced the Baduga dance to the delight of all. This was a very rare treat for the Spanish devotees and they relished every moment of it. Amma will continue to do this across Europe as often as she can and will resume the same once back at Amritapuri a couple months from now. One can’t help but be amazed by the way Amma can touch and inspire the people of every continent, every culture, race and nationality. How does…

Women Empowerment Village Workshops
As part of Amma’s 62nd Birthday Celebration, hundreds of women (and few men) from adopted villages across India came to Amritapuri. Many are enrolled in “Women Empowerment: Sanitation Project” vocational classes in their home villages. Taking advantage of the training facilities and skilled instructors at Amritapuri, additional workshops were offered in subjects such as Block Printing on Fabric, Tile Installation, Soap Making and Packaging, and Basic Carpentry. Video presentations covered the basic details, then the women got to work with the tools themselves, gaining valuable “hands on” experience. Skilled female instructors served as powerful role models for these young ladies.…

Song of the Eternity
O! Amma, God said, “Seek Me, I am happiness.” Knowing which, may I rest at Thy Feet in peace. O! Amma, God said, “All creatures come from Me.” Knowing which, may I love all the forms as Thee. O! Amma, God said, “I am Love, unconditioned, eternal.” Knowing which, may I surrender to His grace, perennial. O! Amma, God said, “My birth brings Joy to all alike.” Knowing which, may I serve Thee forsaking all my likes. O! Amma, God said, “I’m the Mother of all, whose name is Om.” Knowing which, may I chant Thy infinite names, contained in…

Four lakhs saris is not a joke
Amritavarsham’62! On this special occasion of our beloved Amma’s birthday we got an opportunity to interact with Brahmacharini Soumya and a MTech student, Swati Negi, who are coordinating the gifting of sarees to the poor people and all the projects related to women empowerment. “Since many years Amma is doing Vastradaanam during her birthday celebrations” said Bri Saumya. “This year we are giving around four lakhs of sarees and it is mainly for the AmritaNidhi pension scheme beneficiaries of the villagers. MAM has adopted 101 villages, for all the women in those villages, and also for the mothers of students…
